How do you figure it doesn't? They subsidize everything the team does pretty much. Also a leader who isn't merely a puppet would get the coaches we need in here and show the door yo the coaches we don't need. Simple as that

Uh no, "yo." It's not as "simple as that," since it doesn't freakin' work the way you apparently think it does.

While I said to you in another thread that I don't believe (with some exceptions) that Ranters know more (or less) about football than other TD.com members, I can say you know absolutely nothing about this type of fund-raising. How do I know? Because, if you did, you wouldn't be asking these questions (much less start a thread such as this one).

Look, I have a pretty good understanding of philanthropy this level, having done it at three universities for almost 21 years. And, while that sounds arrogant, I'll concede that if you had the desire and opportunity to work in this field as I did, perhaps we'd be on opposite sides of this argument.

I'm disappointed in this thread. I was hoping it would become a Tiger Rant quality debate on the head of TAF and how much he impacts on the field performance but it never materialized.

Agreed, but this one didn't exactly get off to a promising start. And then the author brought Flynn into this for reasons unknown to me...

You do realize that it is the athletic director who hires and fires coaches and not the head of the fundraising arm of the athletic department. Don't you? DON'T YOU?

Hey, can I please answer "yes" so we can kill his thread?

Seriously, Alleva was hired as AD and recently was promoted as AD/V. Chancellor, which is not one of those courtesy titles. Among a thousand other things, the guy oversees the budget, as well as the department's new strategic plan (which we can likely assume doesn't include a chapter on casually assisting boosters and f-raising reps on firing coaches when LSU's offensive linemen allow too many sacks).

Gen. Richard has run off dead weight, and has personally chased off anyone, in the TAF, that is not doing what's best for LSU.

Yeah, you're right about that. The General's a good man and is a great fit for LSU. Wish I could've worked for him instead of a few of my old bosses.

Also if you don't think General Richard has a very very significant say who is hired and fired you are naive.

????????????? Yes that's how it's done everywhere. Wait until Sr grads, then the following Fall we start freshmen. It's the natural progression. I thought this was common knowledge.
RP wasn't a Sr, you .....I will refrain from using the word "tool".........I will refrain from using that word...... I will refrain.......
My doctor says I have to repeat this shite instead of going postal on Rant.

You obviously don't know shite about TAF I don't care how many different schools you worked at. McNeese is not comparable to LSU and their athletic department. TAF is the reason some of the best players in the United States come to LSU. Now that he is a puppet no one wants to come here anymore as evidenced by our last recruiting class which Les pulled out of his arse with a huge help from ol boy Kiffin. Needless to say we don't make some serious changes in the next year our program is in the shitter like old times. You can't expect much from Alleva he is from Duke for god's sake but I can expect the best from the CEO of TAF.

While your effort is appreciated, your logic is not. There are many reasons for the state of the Football program, but the TAF leader is not one of them.

Your focus is as misguided as the players and coaches you are speaking of. Should we blame your parents for this?

Yes I am a TAF member. I am not a top 10% contributor however I do contribute but will not this year or ever again in the future until Miles/Crowton/Chavis and crew are gone.

I lost some faith in Miles in 09, but c'mon. He's a stud recruiter. Down year in Louisiana talent and he still pulled off a terrific class.

One of the most successful athletic programs with academic restrictions that LSU cannot imagine.

Louisiana State University has a proud athletic tradition, highlighted by scores of Southeastern Conference and NCAA championships in more than 20 men's and women's varsity sports. Thanks to the generosity of its members, TAF continues to play an integral role in sustaining that outstanding tradition. As the primary source of private funding for LSU athletics, TAF's mission is clear - to lead the university in building a comprehensively superior athletic program.

While the football program may be the largest beneficiary of the funds, it is not the sole recipient. I am proud that my money goes to all the sports and helps to create a wide variety of competitive athletics. Building a new baseball stadium, constructing new men's and women's practice facilities, renovating the PMAC, a new women's softball stadium are well worth my contribution. Oh, and a football operations facility to boot. Glad I don't have to worry about you souring our parade.

Obviously you are a USC fan disguised as an LSU fan. Kiffin leaving Tennessee did not help LSU at all in recruiting. I would probably say you belong in the land of fruits and nuts.

Now you're just being silly. How can you be taken seriously when you say shite like this? I'm an LSU grad who lives in Lafayette. How does that relate to going back to ULL?
