GEAUX HARRIS - Good schedule to begin Harris's starting role

Put it this way.
Game 1: McNeese is as good of a break-in game as you can get. If they are smart and give him the majority of the first team snaps, which is what seem to be ongoing as of days 1-3 of fall camp, he will be fully prepared for a home opener to earn his keep. If he doesn't, well he will have blown it for real (the Auburn road first step was not good, but understandable to some extent due to the circumstances).
Game 2: Then, a road test at Starkville, with a MSU team that has lost most of its best defensive players, with a strong LSU OLINE and running attack, which will lessen his need to play a major role in winning the game. As the game goes forward, he can have game-planned some smart throws to build on the confidence THAT HAD BETTER come from game 1.
Game 3: Home versus Auburn. Now it gets serious, as even with a good D and being at home, we are going to need a balanced offensive scoring attack to have success in this game. Like so many years of the past, if we are going to slip, the early Sept Auburn game is a place where we could slip up and still compete for the SEC West, SEC and National Championship game.
Game 4: at Syracuse - If Harris has performed reasonably well thru game 3, LSU (with a nice traveling Tiger contigent), should be able to navigate this challenge, and the speed of the turf, combined with his (by then) throwing confidence, will be an asset for his footwork as well.
I'll stop there, as these first 4 games will get him significant experience, and posture the Tigers to be a serious contender for the rest of the championship run.
I am very optimistic that his first team snaps, combined with the way the schedule sets up to appropriately-but-not-too-overwhelming circumstances, leads to him becoming the QB we all believe he can be,
And if this happens, we will have him and an experienced backup QB, and will be a major threat to achieve all of our goals.

All I can say is....you are correct. I hope it plays out this way for the team's sake. Also for our sake and Les'

Do you think the fact that Harris played well in the few minutes he had against MSU last year helps his confidence going into that game as the possible starter this year? Assuming he plays well against Mcneese.

The schedule does set up very well, both for Harris and the team. October is very similar, with 2 SEC games (@USCe, Florida) sandwiched in between 2 non-conference games (E Michigan, W Kentucky), then a bye to set up for a brutal November. Hopefully by then, we'll be ready for it.

I was looking at this too in the Spring or early summer. Now or never baby!
I really think that LSU planned this schedule to some degree knowing that either BH or AJ would benefit from a lower pressure opener.

It has to. The kid has to know the Aubie game was an outlier and probably wasn't going to work too well for him after the first couple of series. I hope he has a burning desire to beat some wareagle azz after the embarrassment of last year.

In the mcneece game I hope Harris shines or falls on his face so I don't have to put up with silly ranters imagining great things out of Harris !

By Auburn circumstances, do you mean handing the ball off two times, then only being allowed to throw on 3rd down, or when they were in -10+ yards from the stick?
There is monster play potential with Harris when they roll the pocket. And some misdirection draw capability that I'm shocked they have yet to use. To much pro vanilla from Cam.
I like the breakdown. If he plays and beats Auburn, that's it. He's the man.
Beyond Harris being more talented at the position, it's obvious that the team around him is more confident when he's on the field.

You're an idiot.

You're an idiot, too. He didn't offer an opinion, he offered a warped version of the truth.

What else do you do when you have an inaccurate Soph QB and a true freshman QB, who doesn't know the playbook? You also have the #1 HS player in the country at RB. Why would you not run the ball as much as possible? It's not basketball where ol Les can just draw up a play on the whiteboard and put it into play.

If they are 3-0 after this game, it could be a damn fine season.

Verge could very well have been complicit in the strategy. Either way, whether happenstance or planned, it is a great occurrence.
