After commenting on defensive Devonte Fields Tuesday, national publications published stories that Patterson had a negative opinion on Les Miles allowing a team vote to reinstate running back Jeremy Hill.

After Thursday’s practice, Patterson said he felt that the stories did not reflect what he said.

“There was no intention at all about the way it went down,” Patterson said. “It was all about my guys. Period.”

Patterson, who shares an agent with Miles, said he sent Miles a transcript of the interview.

“Les Miles and I are good friends, it’s not big deal to us,” Patterson said.

“I know what I said. I didn’t mention Jeremy Hill. I didn’t mention Les Miles,” Patterson said after Thursday’s practice. “It was more about Devonte Fields. If they want to make something up so they can get all fired up … I can get the same thing when I go home. Everyone can stand in line.”

Patterson tried to make light of the situation and said he and Miles are good friends. The coaches share an agent, who helped Patterson forward the transcript to LSU.

Patterson brought up the incident Thursday to clarify that he had no “intention at all of spiting anybody or making anybody look bad.”

“I’m not Babe Ruth. I don’t point at fences,” he said. “Most of the time I play below the water. Anybody who knows me knows that’s way outside of character so why would I do it now? Why would I call up the Tiger? They don’t need anymore help.”

Always has been. It is funny what has been stirred by the media and uneducated fans. Both Miles and Patterson share many of the same attributes. Both are very concerned with the welfare of their players on and off the field. Both love the battle in the trenches and present teams with strong defenses and consistent offensive attacks. Both make an effort to be a role model and father figure to these boys, many of which have no father figure at home.

See it how you want to. The man sent LM a transcript of the interview to prove there was no malice.

TCU coach Gary Patterson sent LSU coach Les Miles a transcript of his Tuesday post-practice comments to show that national media outlets took a report in the Star-Telegram out of context.

Patterson’s comments regarding TCU defensive end Devonte Fields’ two-game suspension, which were in response to a direct question about Fields’ chance of playing in the Horned Frogs’ Aug. 31 opener against LSU at AT&T Stadium, where taken incorrectly by multiple media outlets, Patterson said

yep I can see how you came to that conclusion that he was blaming LSU for making up stuff and taking stuff out of context

why would the media be trying to get fired up? Do they have a big game against the politicians coming up or something?

Unless he was misquoted there was no way to misinterpret his quotes whatsoever.
