Now Greg McElroy:
Paraphrasing:
"Did they really beat us? Like Coach Saban says when we lose... 99 times of 100 it means we beat ourselves, and that's what happened."
On Danielson's opposition to a rematch:
"Generally I would agree, I'm generally opposed to rematches, but in this case, look at the body of work Alabama has had and how dominant we've been."

How does LSU have less to lose in a rematch for the title than Bama does?

Emotionally it is very difficult for the original victor to maintain the original level of intensity from game 1 to game 2, it is human nature to subliminally let down, and Bama would be even more jacked for payback.
Do you think the stats back your theory? I know this is certainly what people argued in 2003 when LSU lit UGA the frick up in the SEC Title Game rematch.

it sounded like he was referring to having to play the championship game in Atlanta...sort of being punished for winning this game.

I'm not sure I understood his comment, either, but in this case the paradox is that the winner of the 9-6 game will have been given more to do to get to the BCSCG than will have the loser.

I'm not sure I understand - it's not like we're talking about Bama getting in OVER LSU. It would be over some other team around the country.

I agree. Gary Danielson
Absolutely. Bama should not be rewarded with a rematch for losing to LSU, and not playing in a CCG. LSU has beaten Bama, nuff said.

You don't. It's the idea that in a scenario where we would have a rematch, LSU's reward for going into Tuscaloosa and beating The University of the Damned is to have to go and play the SEC championship game and risk everything on that game while The University of the Damned gets to stay home, rest, and gameplan for the BCSNCG.

the point being Bama loses this game, doesn't have to play in Atlanta and still has a chance to win the BCS...if they don't win, who gives a shite, they were lucky to be there. LSU won that game and will have to win in Atlanta. Bama could win on a fluke play at the end and will get the trophy.

That's why I'm not totally opposed to it. However, we have a better claim being as we were on the road.

Can we get to the championship game before we start worrying about who our opponent will be?

Nice Gary. We're finally on the same page.

If Ok St. and Stanford lose, LSU will have to do more (ie win on the road against a possible top ten UGA team with our NC hopes on the line) to gain the right to play Bama. It's bullshite.

That's not true at all. I said, as well as many others, that the game was the game. And the loser didn't deserve another shot. And for LSU fans to say that considering it was a road game should count for something.

I think he's right on. If LSU and Boise St. are the only 2 undefeateds, you give Boise a shot (especially if Georgia makes it to Atlanta).

America doesn't want to see a rematch, but bama has a history of stuffing the ballot box given a chance. I don't know what a #2 vote cost but I bet it could be raised in a hurry.........

Maybe it's reasoning like this that caused him not to get the Rhodes Scholarship.

The rematch talk is generated by CBS which just had 20 MILLION VIEWERS! A rematch though, would not generate that kind of interest, so the talk will die out.
I just want to win out, kick ARK's arse and pop UGA's bubble. Then if it is OK, OK state, Stanford or Boise, that's fine.
Bama's SOS will be headed down with who they have left, so another undefeated will jump them, and so will another one loss in all probability.
Although to beat Bama and skunk Oregon and Boise in the same year is almost too good to imagine!
