Honestly I think if shite hadn’t hit the fan with Perriloux being booted off in the offseason that Crowton would’ve made a pretty solid OC that would’ve won us a lot of games. It’d have been hard for even a Joe Brady type to make that 2008 offense work. We all know what Perriloux getting booted caused with no confidence and zilch in the way of experience in the quarterback room. 2008 happened, Miles started meddling with the offense and we know the rest of the story.

Crowton was bad, but Miles was worse. I think Miles interjecting into the play-calling made it much worse than it would have been.

It’s amazing how as the years go by and the more we look back on that era, Miles seems to look worse and worse.

Crowton's son went to school with my kids and he often complained that his Dad was very frustrated at Les holding back the offensive play calling, especially in crucial game situations. Not happy at all.

Crowton was an animal in Ruston - unreal numbers back in the day.

I agree Crowton Ran a full Spread offense at La tech then comes to LSU and it looks nothing like the offense there. I wonder what was holding him back?

People could not see past the win-loss record. If you stopped and evaluated the play calling and watched how the defense had the advantage because of the play calling you could tell that coaching was a major issue.

This is not even touching the issue of clock management, certain players not playing, and just pure dumb calls. We would have been better off in some games had Miles stayed in the dressing room.
