Also, what is a "unique" game?

In other words, you have to cut your numbers in half because the teams are playing each other.

120 teams usually equals only 60 games or so, not 120 games.

When I correct you, it's wise not to correct my correction. Your numbers assume that every team that plays each week plays in a unique game. But the reality is for every two teams, there is only one unique game.

If ten teams each play in one week, all against another team in that ten, only five games have been played. Expand that line of reasoning to include all 120 teams. Halve your numbers if you want them to be accurate.

It wouldn't be perfectly accurate just to halve the numbers because there are certain weeks where some of the Division 1-A teams play Div 1-AA teams, but your reasoning is correct.

1987 OU/Nebraska was very much like this LSU/Bama game...winner takes conf championship and #1 rank/NC bowl bid. Loser leaves empty handed.

FSU 93 would still win ACC regardless of outcome of ND game. Ironically they lost and still won the NC

Looked it up for those who care to ponder:

In the last 15 matchups of #1 vs #2 in the regular season (not including Conference Championships), the #1 team posted a (9-5-1) record with a 3 point average margin of victory for #1 in those games.

The highest margin came in 1988 when Notre Dame beat USC 27-10, the low being a tie between Notre Dame and Michigan St. in 1966 in those games.

Overall since the AP's inception, the #1 team has gone (26-17-2).

It takes two teams to play a game. By using your math, 120 games were played last week because there is 120 teams. That is wrong. 60 games would have been played if there was 120 teams, because it takes two teams to play ONE game.

That is what "unique" means.

tOSU/UM game in 06 has to be mentioned though.

That was huge at the time. Like this, it was a semi final, I guess moreso because it was the last game of the season. Looking back, it was a dud since both teams got waxed in their bowl games.
