I want regionals to start.
Skip never cared much at all for the SEC Tourny title. All he wanted was to make sure and win one game, so that all 3 starting pitchers got their work in.
Coach Mainieri values the SEC Tourny. Going back to his Notre Dame days, didn't he win something like 6 or 7 conference tournament titles in a row? I think that Coach Mainieri is a great tournament coach. He seems to find the right pitching matchup and does an excellent job in that format. Considering that our SEC standings were locked in, I'm certain that part of the reason to rest Nola this weekend is so that he can keep us in the winner's bracket in Hoover. Coach Mainieri already has his pitching rotation lined up for the SEC Tourny, Regional, and Super Regional.

In all honesty, I always care about the SEC Tourney, especially in CPM's time here at LSU, but this year I dont have that kind of passion for it. I also don't really have that big of a desire to play Vandy, because if we win, what do we actually win?
The goal is to go to Omaha. Winning or losing against Vandy in the SEC Tourney means nothing.
My goal for our team is to get healthy (Jacoby) and rested (Nola and Eades).

But not at a cost of expending yourself too much right before the REAL season starts. Playing 5 or 6 games a few days before the road to Omaha begins can be a bad thing.

those are all respectable losses, just the wrong part of the season to be losing 5 of 12
Posted on 5/17/13 at 10:09 am to AstroTiger
It's the only tough part of their schedule though. It makes you question how well they will do when they are consistently playing good opponents.
That and they are from the ACC.

they missed FSU, just like Vandy missed us; however, Miami, Clemson and Virginia Tech are all pretty decent
