I am not so sure that LSU can recognize and adjust to stop the Wheel route by the A and/or B backs. The key will be stoppin Dwyer, as if he starts getting 4 to 5 a carry it will get ugly. The other key to playing against that offense is formation recognition. We ran the same thing at SMS for 10 years and we were very balanced and had routinely 100 yrds passign, 100 yds from FB and 50 plus from each wing with 30 plus receiving from bubbles and screens.

Yeah, it really was. Don't let the score blind you. A pick 6 and a garbage TD with seconds on the clock. That game was a blowout from the 2nd quarter on.

I could argue why it wasn't that bad with a few points. It was a sound beating, not a blowout, but it's midnight here, and I have to wake up at 6:30 tomorrow.

H-Town,

you mention athletes and stopping the option...that is further from the truth. The option negates any athletic advantage that a team might have over a nother (hence Navy running it successfully). It forces a team to stay disciplined and cover their gaps, and not using their athleticism to make plays.

Obviously the option has been figured out - it's not hard to figure it out. Stopping it is a different story - especially if it's your first time facing them. We saw how well the athletes at Miami and UGA did against them. They all tried to make plays and didn't play disciplined football...obviously the coaches at LSU would preach this, but when you're trying to make a play (like all football players are taught to do), you tend to leave your assigned lanes, etc.

4 to 5? He averaged 7 for the year!

He's not a genius. He's a pompous windbag who will keep Tech in that 7-5 to 9-3 window but never lead them to greatness. He's running an outdated offense and is too stupid to realize it. Now maybe if he tweaked it to actually use Nesbitt's arm, that might make sense. But Paul Johnson is more overrated than Keiland Williams

It doesn't matter what the future holds for him. It matters that his team is clicking THIS YEAR and just hung 45 on Georgia, in Athens. They'll absolutely destroy us.

that's what i'm saying. our d has been leaving their assignments on basic offensive plays, much less a triple option. and missing tackles only magnifies the problem

I'm with you on this one.

We have made many a QB this season, but stopping the run is achievable.

They will obviously have home field advantage, but it's not like this team hasn't played in the Georgia Dome before.

Tech runs the option in different forms though, they run a G, Load, and Veer. Again though the key to the whole stopping the Flex-Bone/Hammbone is noticing the depth that the FB and A and B backs are lined up at, as that will key you on the type of option and steps they will take.

Don't disagree. I was cited our athletes merely to point out that we have them outmatched at each position. If we play disciplined and know our roles, we should be able to stop them. This isn't Florida, this is Georgia Tech.

The refrain on this board has been that because we've been undisciplined all season, we haven't a prayer. I think that is silly. Our players have been humiliated nationally and it's time to serve notice that we sucked in '08 but we're gonna be back in 2009. I think the players will be profoundly impacted by the (cough) resignations and realize that while those guys were in over their heads, the players helped cost those guys their jobs by playing stupid. I think 4 weeks to prepare for one team is a sufficient amount of time for a group of underachievers with great potential to play extremely well for 60 minutes of football, especially given Georgia Tech's one diminesional nature.

So I'll say it again--this one is on the players.

Its questionable whether our DCs know what the frick an A and B back is much less how to read depth.

What a pussy. We should annihilate them. Of course, we should have annihilated Ole Miss, Troy and Arkansas.

Here's to hoping a few weeks of reflection will make the players realize that they are being constantly evaluated and frustration is no excuse in the NFL.

Co-sign. I would like to play Georgia Tech

The thing is all they have to do is throw in a little misdirection pass here and there and BOOM! 45 yard play.

Seriously, have you watched G Tech play? Darryl Richard is as good or better than any interior D lineman LSU has, and Johnson, one of their DE's, is a freak. Then you have LSU's weak arse LB's and DB's trying to tackle 210-220 RB's with power and some speed. Yeah, winning combo there. Oh, wait, I forgot. Les said the Tigers will have 3 QB's for the bowl game....yeah, that will make a huge difference in another losing outcome.

Thats funny, we manhandled you, could've been worse if we didn't line up in victory formation with a first down on the 2 yard line. I just wish that yall would admit that we are a better team this year. Guess that will never happen.

I have given Perry and OM's D kudo's in many posts, they flat out put it on the Tigers. I think OM is the 3rd best team in the conference, yes ahead of UGA. Just think if you hadn't had all the turnovers. My P&G goggles just aren't thick enough to mask all the challenges LSU has as a team in 2008.
