What would you be saying today if an LSU player picked it up and ran it for a TD?

That he has superhuman vision and awareness. It's preposterous to expect that.

How the ball gets out of bounds is of no consequence in that instance. Sorry.

You are wrong. Sorry. LSU would have had to pick up the loose ball or it would have had to go out of bounds on the drop or in mishandling the ball by a player attempting to recover the fumble to be ruled LSU's ball. Had an LSU player walked up and kicked the ball out of bounds, the play would have been deemed dead the instant he kicked it out of bounds and Iowa still would have been given possession of the ball at the spot of the fumble. You cannot kick a live football. But hats off to you if you think that you are right.

but the problem I have is when the ref screws up and blows the play dead.

Jesus, some of you are acting like retards about this.. They didn't "blow the play dead". It was a ruled a touchdown.
So when a ref rules touchdown, the play is still live?
Your interpretation of the rules is interesting. Your ad hominem attacks are not.

Not a heads up play by our guys. Jump on it, we have it on the 25.

Yea bc at game speed it is easy to see he fumbled one inch before he scored!

Had LSU made a clear recovery of the fumble? Yes.

Your lack of understanding that a ref that is chasing a college linebacker from behind cannot see that a ball was dropped a half step before reaching the end zone that had to be stopped on replay to see is interesting.

Was the whistle blown? I don't know. If it was then I wouldn't expect any player to anything.

I would imagine the whistle was blown, but that's actually irrelevant. When the ref signals touchdown, the play is over.
It is ludicrous for anyone to assume that play should continue once the refs indicate it is over. In fact, you are penalized for such action.
