I think Baker will be on Richardson almost full time, especially when he makes his way out of the backfield into the flat.

Yeah, I don't think anyone knows what a spy is...

We should also spy Maze. He's their best WR.

More importantly, spy Saban, their best coach.

Karnell Hatcher would actually be the best option as a spy... trent doesnt really run routes, basically just comes out of the backfield for screens and safety dump offs, if hatcher cant handle that then well idk... you dont want to use one of your players that actually have coverage skills, let them cover the TE's and WR's who run actual routes, when TR3 is not involved in a play, his spy (Hatcher) won't be either, which can be a good thing. Spying is an easy assignment, let one of your lesser players do it

We only really have to key on ONE guy on bamas team. With a month to gameplan and prepare, Trent will have no breathing room in the title game. As for their passing game, we are coming off of facing the top two passers in the SEC and maybe college football. I really like the matchups to favor LSU.

Belicheck would do it. Hell, OU accused Saban of doing it in '03.

So if mingo is on the left side de and trent runs a route to the right, then what?

37 cant cover. Literally a liability in coverage on every snap he is in the game.

We lose backs out of the backfield non stop, no matter who we are playing. It's not just that as a group they can't cover, they are just really unaware of their responsibilities in coverage.

Our linebackers are good against the run, but pretty weak in coverage as a whole.

guys. when you have a linebacker covering a running back, he's going to get beat every now and then. that's the matchup that all offenses try to get in pass routes, and hence how the plays is actually designed. an running back iso'ed on a lb with space to work.

Our linebackers have been excellent this year.

also, this thread might as well be called, "let's cover trent richardson". it's that simplistic in its thinking.

etter idea would be to keep Ron Brooks on him. He's solid in coverage, quick, and he hits hard. Keep TM7 and Mo C at the corners

You got it backwards. TM7 is the rover in our scheme. Brooks, Simon, and Mo are the cover corners. If you change it where TM7 is the #2 cover corner you arent playing to his strengths and jeopardize the big play.

Loston could possibly be the answer...he's a damn good tackler!

That's what it SHOULD be called, because you don't "spy" a RB.

Just have someone hit TR every play, wether he is in pass protection, running, or recieving. Have someone give him a good "pop" even he doesnt have the ball.

Mingo might over run Richardson.

DE are supposed to contain the outside. Tackles are supposed to clog the inside.
Linebackers are supposed to fill the lanes.

They play fundamental football. And we can stop TR as long as we don't blow assignments.

And when has Hatcher ever done this, pray tell!

Reid has done pretty well at stepping up and providing a 3rd wave behind the D-line and lbs. You know, like a safety is supposed to do.

"pray tell" why you think mingo should be spying on anyone and why you speak like an 80 year old woman?

And TR wasn't exactly blowing it up nov. 5th.

think he means cover? or man to man? or are we expecting trick plays where richardson throws the ball?

While Mingo is super quick, he has not been practicing or focusing on covering backs/recievers out of the back field. It would seem he would be more productive doing what he does, what he has been doing all season, and let a safety or LB cover TR....
