LF was asked about the rough stiff arm play near the end of the 4thQ. He dismissed it, saying UF was continually facemasking during the game. I didn't realize he was being facemasked on that play as well. But looking at the replay, the UF DB grabs LF's facemask with his right hand inciting LF to counter with the left overhand "falcon punch" stiffarm move.

The FM was obvious to several folks on the sidelines, and you can see them reacting to it.

He was pissed at that point. I was really hoping he would rip off an eighty yarder to the house.

You can see Fournette's upper body getting pulled towards the Florida player as he grabbed Fournette's facemask.

That was awesome.

Question

Could he be penalized for that?

Les needs to be a man and take a fine to defend Buga. Other teams shouldn't be allowed to face mask him and get away with it just because he is a fricking beast.

For the facemask?
Yes.

For the left overhand, technically yes.

It's not a punch when the ball is live. That's a stiff arm.

he was abused throughout the game with bullshite continuous hits, FMs and unsportsmanlike play....

But hey, it's Florida. The other team you like to hate. Seriously though, the refs blew a shite ton of calls.

This is false. You can't close fist swing and hit someone (punch) in the head even if you have the ball. On a stiff arm you are "allowed" to have your hand on an opponents facemask/head as long as you are not grabbing/yanking/twisting, etc...

You can't just go punching people even if you are a ballcarrier. There are rules to "stiffarming"

ETA: I'm sure if the "punch" hit the side of a guys shoulder while trying to "punch" someone out of the way, they might overlook it... but if the guy rears back and punches the side of a tacklers head, they would call it almost all the time. We've all seen flags thrown for less havn't we?

Well sport, that isn't what happened.

Fournette hit him with an open hand which broke the DBs grip on LF's facemask. Then in the same move, LF threw him sideways. I have never seen that called. Ever! Just like a stiffarm to the defender's facemask is not called. Could they be called? Yep.

First of all, I do not agree that his hand is open and have yet to see a GOOD enough replay/picture showing this "without a doubt". I also disagree with where the "punch" landed as it appears to be closer to the defenders head (though missed) than his hand. Again I would like to see a better replay/picture.

But regardless, that is NOT what I believe the poster was asking? I believe he was asking if a RB could be penalized for throwing a punch... not... "should LF be penalized". Two different questions in my opinion for which I was trying to explain how a RB could definitely be called for a penalty... which I still feel if a correct answer to his question.

This a football version of Hack a Shaq, it just needs a Fournette appropriate name. It's been happening a lot this year, and other teams seem to get away with it simply because Buga is a man above boys. It's BS, and CLM needs to be as vocal about it as Dale Brown was back in the day.

yes, this is what i was asking, if a rb takes a swing and hits a defender in the head in a somewhat of a stiff arm manor, could they be penalized, and it sounds like yes
