To everyone,

I just spoke to Duane this evening by telephone for the first time since this whole ordeal went down. We had a 30 minute conversation about his test results so far and all sorts of other things concerning his future.

Duane has registered on TD and awaits his posting priviledges. When this occurs he will post a reply in order to fill us all in on what is happening. I will wait and let Duane do this so I don't screw anything up.

BTW he very much appreciates the kind words from everyone and needs us to continue to pray for him. God bless all.

Hey D, just talked to Randy and I know he is on the way to see you. I was thinking that I might have to come over there and do my Rascal's cigarette trick to lighten you up a bit if you need it.

This is Duane DeArmond, Disco "D":) I am overwhelmingly humbled by all the kind words, the outflow of concern and of course the prayers from you all. I want to thank Randy aka "Bo" for setting this page up as well as old freinds like Wally, Tommy 'O' "Shaf" Reid my cousin and many others others who have posted. As it stands now I have cancer of the kidney. It has spread to my liver and lungs. The tumor om my kidney is the size of a softball. I just spent a few days in MD Anderson and my treatment plan will be completed Thursay and I have an appt. with my lead doctor at that time. The kidney will most likely be removed and I will have a chemo based treatment among others things to attack the other parts of my body which it has not spread. It has not spread to my brain nor my bones. I have my share of really bad days but I can assure you that this board makes all days easier to get through. have no doubt that I will survive this and I will no doubt be a better person
after it is over. I feel this way because I walk with the Lord and he is watching over me. May God bless you all and please keep the prayers coming!

Duane, we're praying and pulling for the best for you.

My son is a life-long kidney patient (13 years old) and we travel to Texas Children's once a month for his care there.

If you have any kidney-related questions, like if you end up needing dialysis while you go through chemo or anything, don't hesitate to email me. You can also call me through his website (click updates, click the "call me" button - Christian's Conquest)

Best of luck and God Bless!!!

D. Ask your doctor about a drug called Tarceva. It is a drug that inhibits tumor growth. One of my junior partners had a sister who had lung cancer that had spread to her spine and brain. The drug completley stopped tumor growth for nearly a year. Her prognosis was origionally six months but by using Tarceva she had the extra year. Had she gotten diagnosed earlier the Tarceva could have brought her the extra year for treatment to help turn the cancer back instead of just giving her extra time to put her affairs in order. As I understand it, the drug is experimental and not yet available for general use. Ask your doctors.
My family will continue to pray for you and yours.

Duane here again! I just found out a few hours ago that I have Clear Cell kidney cancer also known as renal kidney cancer. Of all 5 types kidney cancers it is the best type to have. Great News! I will have my treatment plan by Thursday of this week. Please keep the prayers coming. THEY WORK!
