USC did not have to play the same team twice in a season. Very different scenario.

Apparently all you boys are ready for a loss and then claim a split title. You all got trophies for everything growing up huh?

There is a winner and a loser. LSU wins they are the champions. Alabama wins they are the champions.

Whatever the outcome the sun will rise the next morning and you don't have to jump off a roof.

My manhood isn't defined by wins and losses of a football team I don't play for. Don't overdramatize this.
He wasn't referring to winning a game or losing a game he was saying real men don't wonder what could have been, they just move on.

No regrets, only tomorrow.

Not sure if we have crossed paths here before, but I think like this.

Can't understand how grown men place their very existence on a game, the players don't.

Great minds think alike.

Glad to know at least someone else here has sanity. There are a few others but man they really are in short supply.

Who ever tied emotion to this argument? I bet you two would get along well. No one said they would lose sleep or question their existence in a loss. The OP started a debate. And some of us simply gave our opinion. You and the martini tie that debate to manhood, which is a cop out translated to mean "I have no intellectual argument to make". I don't live in a black and white world of always either or. Sometimes it is and somtimes it isnt. You see, sometimes reasonable minds can differ and both can still get along without insults.

winning the AP would be a nice consulation prize, but the BCS is still the big prize.

The AP should be a nice little footnote in the history of LSU football, but no way should we stoop to the gumps level and scream from the tops of the mountains (well in our case levees) and say 4 time national champions!

Having said that I still sort of want to claim 1908.

I think we win the BCS anyway and all is right in the world

It's a game. It seems as though a month before the GAME you are trying to say if YOU lose YOU get 1st Place once removed.

It is a winner take all and there is not a prize for 2nd place. And 2nd place is nothing to be ashamed of so YOU shouldn't feel the need to have a trophy.

I would hardly call The Rant "an intellectual argument."

But hey....if it makes your penis bigger....

You can't LOSE your final game of the season and claim a share of the national championship when the team that beat you also has one loss and is holding up the crystal football. (Well, I guess you can, but most will think you are an idiot.) The only scenario I can think of is if an undefeated team was to play a 2-loss team and the 2-loss team barely won. Then, there would be a legitamate reason to grumble.

Half of those 13 titles Bama claims are split titles...though they don't recognize them as so, think they want to let them go?

i thought they only had 3 outright championships.
