quote:if our dline is in fact being murdered like that why dont our coaches make a big deal about it? They should be on the sec offices arse every week about this until we see it called.
Don't forget chop-blocked.

Imagine what our record would be if we had another coach like Nutt, Tuberville, Spurrier, Meyers or
Saban. I know some will say we'd be a better team but they didn't always do well with similar or better talent. Miles should be considered one of the best. I think Miles is proven to be one of the best game managers as well. We're 4-0 when many coaches in the SEC would be 1-3 right now.

Not buying this at all.

Meyer shouldn't have lost to Auburn in 06 or Ole Miss in 08. The argument could be made he shouldn't have lost to us in 07 either. He was outcoached in that one IMO.
He also got his shite pushed in against UGA in 07. Again outcoached.
It happens to EVERY coach.

with the fact that NFL people find that college kids dont get coached on Technique. Im still waiting for Brick to find away to get Woods and Alexander to get off their blocks. So many times i see them wrestle with their Guards or Centers. Only time they get to backfield is when the guard or center blocks down. Maybe The DE's could perform better to squeeze. Alem has done well but Chancey has struggled big time.

Yeah, but the reason '07 Florida wasn't up to snuff was because everyone knew they would struggle on defense. They had to replace nine starters from their '06 squad, and I'm pretty sure 9 of their starting 11 in '07 were either freshmen or sophomores. Meyer has never let them get blown out from '06 on. They were competitive in all of their losses.

I'm not sure whether LSU is poorly coached or not, but, I know this for CERTAIN :
Georgia is a three point favorite to win the game against the MUCH higher ranked LSU Tigers.
People on the Rant may not think LSU is poorly coached or overrated, but, I guess we can conclude that a LOT of odds-makers think so.

I think Miles should let Crowton loose.......
plain and simple....
put the headset down on offense and let Crowton do his thing......
If after two games....we don't perform better...then put the headset back on.

Until we can run the ball on 1st and 2nd down when they know we want to run the ball...our options are limited. I refuse to take credit for inventing this wisdom.

I want this to be a serious thread, so please, if you don't have any real input, don't reply. Thanks.
There has been a lot of talk about LSU being a "poorly coached" team. Contrary to popular belief, just because a team isn't playing well doesn't mean that the coaches aren't doing everything they should be in practice.
So my question is, what exactly do you see on the field that you think the coaches should be spending more time on in practice?
Like most people on here, I think that the play calling has been atrocious, so our approach needs to change. I put most of that on Crowton.
Other than that, I also think that the OL isn't picking up their assignments. I place the blame there on Stud and Miles, and I think they need to be all over them in practice making sure that they know what their responsibilities are on every play. I also think that could have a lot to do with Crowton calling plays that once again his players are not comfortable with.
On D, missed tackles has been the biggest problem IMO and its helped teams sustain drives against us. I guess the coaches could spend more time on tackling and wrapping up drills, but honestly the responsibility there has to fall mainly on the players not doing what they've been taught since pee-wee.
Snaps on special teams are obvious as well. Practice practice practice.
Any other suggestions on specifics that the coaches can work on in practice?

The biggest thing, imo, is that a lot of the time the players dont play with intensity or attitude. A coach, especially in college, needs to motivate his players.

Total offense over past 3 years. Here are the rankings:
2007-26
2008-55
2009-105
I'm a huge Crowton fan, but I'm beginning to question whether his play calling is washed up. He doesn't seem to adapt his play calling for what the defense is giving him. For example, Mississippi State stacked 8 in the box for 97% of its plays, Crowton refused to adapt. What could they do in practice? Work on offensive play timing, its been off que for a while.

God dammit.
I scrolled through five pages of horseshite just to see the "I are serious cat" pic, and nobody posted it.
I feel cheated.

My issue is: considering how talented our players are (based on recruiting rankings), if we don't play well who else's fault could it be (but the coaches)? It's not even necessarily that they're bad, but that they're not good enough (see Gus Malazahn's transformation of Auburn's offense, Urban Meyer's incredibly successful offensive system, Saban's dominant defensive system). If our coaches aren't as good as the latter guys, then we won't be competing for titles in the SEC.

I honestly believe that this LSU team simply is not as talented as many think they are. I think whatever flashes they showed in HS simply have not translated to the college game. I mean this mostly about our OL and DL.
How talented was our defense last year? Two on the DL made NFL rosters in addition to SS Taylor.
