Would you be willing to pull more financial resources that would normally go to Football to hire better coaches, upgrade facilities, etc.?

On a side note, Interesting take from a fellow Tiger fan the other day that he just doesn't expect LSU to be a perennial Basketball power year and out. As a traditional Football school, other than the exceptions of Florida and Texas, LSU just doesn't have the funding.

Thoughts...

I would have to do a little more research to answer this...basically, if basketball has the potential (and reasonable likelihood) to turn a profit if successful, then yes...I would be ok with setting up another sport to generate funds for the non-profitable sports....

if not, then no...I am not in favor of propping up non-profitable sports...

I would be willing to take some from the basketball program and give it to the football program if it meant the product on the field would be better.

I'd trade the whole team away for a couple of West Championships.

They just built a new practice facility, and I don't think anything can be done to the PMAC barring serious renovation. Trent makes more than a competitive salary.

I just don't know that throwing more money at the program will change anything. Maybe assistant coaches could make more? I don't know anything about their salaries.

To the other point, I would never expect LSU Basketball to be a perennial power, but that doesn't mean they can't be competitive year in and year out.

LSU basketball turns a profit now. Makes much more than baseball.

LSU has more than enough "resources" to compete in basketball without taking anything away from football

money isn't the issue, the right people in place are

The state of Louisiana is not the fertile breading ground for basketball talent as it is for football talent. So it will be always hard to compete in basketball.

We do not have that much of the tradition in basketball as we have in football, which makes it harder to recruit blue chip out of state recruits.

The program has not done much since 2006 final 4 appearance and that was mostly because of freshman sensation Tyrus Thomas.

No LSU is not a basketball school and will never be one. We are on our better day a mid tier SEC team, who can make an NCAA tournament appearance once in a while.

LSU should focus on baseball where we are a national powerhouse with 6 national championship.

LSU should focus on women's basketball where we have made a difference in the past and have some tradition and can be successful.

LSU basketball is not worth investing in.

Are you saying the demographic of our football and basketball teams are different? Because they aren't.

Dumbest post ever.

You can't be serious.

Greg Monroe, Tyrus Thomas, Glen Davis, Brandon Bass, DJ Augustin, Paul Millsap, Marcus Thornton, Antawn Jamison, Chris Duhon, Danny Granger.

Yeh, this state doesn't produce any talent.

I dont see why funding is even a consideration.

money is not the missing element.

the combo of recruiting and coaching is what is needed.

the assistants matter. the HC matters. and the players matter.

The damn rim is still 10' from the floor, you know.
Money is not involved in running a play or playing serious, in your face defense.
