once things started going south and brady was relieved of his duties, morgan's aau pimps started steering him towards ucla. i've heard this from more than one of my friends who are familiar with the hoops world up around DFW. ucla wasn't the only one trying to jump in. who knows what happens if butch stays, tommy had some other reasons, he just committed way too early IMO. morgan just hasn't turned out to be very good. i went to see him play when i was working a j ob in richardson, tx and i saw him get out rebounded and out worked on the low block by a 6'6 kid that couldnt have weighed more than 200 lbs. i think trent did the right thing letting him walk, LSU didn't need that shady aau posse hanging around.
also it seems randolph had kind of put himself in bad standings with some teammates according to those who were around the team at the time. apparently he may have been even more ready mentally to leave school than he was physically. lots of what ifs for last year's team just like in 2006. what if bass had returned. what if thornton had been able to enrole and play at lsu as a freshman that season. would have been something. im hoping this team can try and rail off some wins here at the end of the year. when butch took over that team two years ago they went on a spirited run towards the end of the season, hoping this team can find a way to win some. hope to see a couple of good crowds at the pmac this week.
You made some excellent points. It is all speculation since Brady was terminated and Johnson was hired so who knows which recruits would have stayed and how the team would have performed.
Despite some reservationsa about recruiting phiposophy I amsupportive of Trent as I am of any coach leading the purple and gold. I truly hope he becomes teh most successful coach in LSU history.

When Butch took over the team, he went .500, the exact same winning percentage Brady had that year in the conference. No difference. This flew in the face of every NEGATIGER who swore up and down that all our problems were Brady, and that any coach would do better. WRONG!!

I generally don't respond to posts by you or Tiger20, because I don't want to encourage idiocy or blatant excessive use of emoticons, but I can't let the above post go because it is grossly incorrect. (and I think purposely incorrect).
Brady was 1-6 in the SEC when he was fired. Butch coached the last 9 regular season games, going 5-4, then lost in the SEC tournament to South Carolina for a 5-5 record over the final 10 games. So Butch did go .500, but Brady was far from it.
Also, to set the record straight, because you label everyone a negatiger, even those that are supporting LSU through a rough season (I can't figure out how those people are negatigers), I think Brady was a good hire at the time that made the most of a tough situation. He did better than most would have, given the hand that he was dealt.
He did benefit from maybe the best run of local talent in the history of Louisiana, but to his credit he signed many of them and had some success. I wanted him to succeed, but it was time for him to go in the end. The program needed new blood. I think he was burned out and had become bitter.

If that was your criteria you would not respond to about 90% of the posts on this board. You may disagree with my conclusion but at least I give you a basis unlike the trite and pithy comments of many.

At least you are willing to concede this point.

It should not matter where they came from, none of them were obligated to sign with LSU.

I totally agree and have stated on numerous occasions it was in the best interest of LSU and Brady to part company.

Winning 3 SEC titles and going to the Final Four is not slightly above average.
He won 2 SEC titles.
But for those who say that LSU never worried about another school trying to steal John Brady is an inaccurate statement. Early in his tenure when LSU won a share of the SEC title, and in the process giving both Alabama and Ole Miss their worst home court losses ever and blowing out Arizona, LSU fans were concerned about the possibility of losing Brady.

I don't seriously believe Brady ever had any serious interest from other schools. I know he used some faux interest from Illinois as leverage in contract negotiations, which is fine and done by coaches all the time.

Go to Arky state if you like Brady so much

Not purposely (that's idiocy). I should have said in all the games they coached that year. They were both right at .500. There was no improvement in terms of winning. That was the point and was correct. But like most NEGATIGERS who post idiocy, you did not bother to find that in all your research.

I am counting last year in Brady's title count. I am willing to be EXTREMELY generous and split it, Brady 1/2 and TJ 1/2.

If you're a typical NEGATITGER , go cheer for Tulane.
