I really wish up and downvotes came with a link to the list of usernames associated to each vote.
There needs to be some accountability in situations like this.

Normally I don't give a shite about downvotes and up votes.
But in this specific instance, the act of down voting a show of solidarity for a kid who will likely not see Thanksgiving takes a special kind of scumbag. It is a reflection of the depths to which the bottom-dwellers of society will sink when they can slither beneath the umbra of anonymity.
These invertebrates would likely be disinclined to show their displeasure for threads like this if it were made more public that they were doing so.
No, downvotes won't hurt the kid. But they don't help. And the serve no purpose other than to mar an expression of empathy and concern with bullshite snark.
So, to all of you who downvoted the thread (and who are sure to downvote this comment) go frick yourselves.

Hope y'all realize that kids and adults fight cancer every day. I know this may be a special deal because the kid is an LSU fan but there are tons are fans and tons that love LSU because the family does. None of it matters to cancer. Prayers are the best and I wish nothing more but the best for Sid. Prayers helped my daughter and are helping my wife, both of with watch LSU because I do and because I love sports.
May God bless you SID and may he reveal his plan to you, so that you may have some comfort.
Amen

Seriously?
We're all aware that dozens of cancers kill millions of people each year. The fact that those cases don't get press doesn't make many of them any less tragic.
But occasionally a story like this one resonates with people. It gives them pause and forces them to reevaluate what REALLY is important.
Whether it's Sid's age, his affinity for LSU, his ardent faith in something higher than himself, the dire state of his health, or a combination of all of these, this story struck a chord for a lot of people (myself included).
And there isn't a damn thing wrong with people expressing their sympathy and their gratitude to this kid and his family.
I'm sorry about your wife and daughter. But casting aspersions on this scenario because others don't get the same attention doesn't help anyone.
