Can we say that the refs actually called a decent game?

Sure, the usual missed holds that look one sided. But in general, no unfair or ridiculous targeting calls, a reasonable reversal, and a PI call that went our way at a critical time.

I appreciated that they weren't the storyline.

Yes the refs called a great game. Called the egregious penalties but let the DBs and WRs play

And we can stop the ‘SEC refs are out to get us’ crap. They stopped the game to review that completion which really helped temporarily swing momentum and get us the ball back

I was very pleasantly surprised by the officiating.

I think they missed some holds but nothing too outrageous given the environment and how the game played out. Love that they weren’t a story

ETA: I thought for sure we were in trouble when they tried to call the Chambliss backward pass incomplete on the first drive before replay overturned it

The refs were largely a non-factor. Which is the way it should be.

I dont know the rules on this.

But the fumble very early in the game (backwards pass) confuses me.

The whistles blew the play dead however they reviewed the play and said ole miss recovered the ball.

Wtf

If lsu recovered it and ran it for a td they would have said the whistles blew it dead.

I am legit confused as to the rules on this.

Had LSU recovered with a scoop n' score, they would have nullifed the TD but given LSU the ball.

This crew was great. There was one early PI on Woodland, I think, where he had a hold, but had let go before receiver made his cut. That was kind of borderline, but that was the closest I came to seeing a bad call, and even that was technically a penalty.

And we had two guys all over the ball who would have/could have likely recovered it with some contact had the whistle not blown. Yeah no shite they recovered it, because we stood up.

No complaints other than them blowing the whistle too early on that backwards pass to start the game

If there is a clear recovery even after the whistle blows they can and will award possession of the ball. That’s why after the whistle blows you’ll still see players scrambling for the football. Same for the nfl as well

Which is still wrong.

Kids are taught since they can hold a ball to play the whistle.

Whistle blows play is done.

If an lsu guy nails the guy with the ball after the whistle he is ejected.

Yet, possession is determined after the whistle??????
