will actually give JJ more time in the pocket,
He doesn't need more time. He needs to get rid of the freakin' ball quicker. I'd say 75% of the sacks JJ has taken are on him for holding the ball too long. Drives me apeshit.

well he seems to read defenses a little slower than most QB's which is what I mean by a little more time in the pocket...

Also needs more time and learn to progress through the WR's. What bothers me is as soon as he drops back with no pressure and his primary WR is covered he takes off. At least learn to look at a secondary reciever before running.

JJ has been sacked 55 or 60 times in his career
Because he doesn't have that clock in his head. He can't feel the pressure coming. Good QB's feel that.
Edit: And yes he does hold the ball too long.

I don't think it's so much that he's clueless, but more that he probably wasn't groomed to be a pocket qb in high school. So he came into college behind the learning curve, but still has athletic talent. Crowton obviously didn't do a very good job of teaching jj the fundamentals of the qb position. I hope kragthorpe can do a better job, its just too bad that jj doesn't have another 3 years of eligibility left. He might become a very good SEC qb.

He will be alright this year tho I have faith in our coaches to make the right calls

Crowton may have not done a great job of coaching fundamentals but Lee's INT per attempt has decreased significantly while JJ's has significantly increased. Combine that with quotes after games JJ was utterly horrid but was quoted as saying he thought he played fine. To me that looks like clueless not to mention how is he being graded in the film room?
Is there some kind of special JJ curve?

Don't get me wrong, I'm certainly not trying to defend JJ and his lack of production on the field. I'm just saying that he was probably never taught to be a pocket qb in high school and had to play catch up on learning those fundamentals. Looking back he was probably hurt the most by perilloux being kicked off the team. Just not enough time to learn everything he needs to learn (i.e. too slow in wr progressions). As long as he doesn't turn the ball over and reduces the number of sacks he takes, I'll be content.
