For LSU fans questioning Daniels because of his inability to score against LSU’s defense

Some of us recall in 2019 when LSU fans expressed concern for LSU’s defense in fall practices because they appeared weak unable stop this transfer quarterback Joe Burrow from throwing TD’s. The truth might be LSU’s defense is far stronger than any LSU team in the past.
Updated info from Lafayette Daily Advertiser - During Thursday's practice, viewed by the media in its entirety, Daniels took the vast majority of the snaps with the first-team offense.
He looked comfortable and confident making throws and maneuvering within a tight pocket. During the final period of practice against LSU's first-team defense, Daniels was 6-of-8 passing.
From The Advocate - Nussmeier and Daniels split time as no1. QB’s on Monday. It was a non contact scrimmage. Dellinger still at center, Bradford right tackle, Frazier right guard, Shorts at left guard, Campbell at left tackle.

Joe wasn’t by any means great in the 2019 spring game. That pick by Stingley had me worried about Joe’s arm strength. The summer throwing to the receivers changed everything.

You just made the OP’s point. That freshman Derek Stingley turned out to be a #3 overall draft pick, right?

Except we have 3 years going on 4 now about JD and what he can do.
Burrow we didn't have that.Burrow came in mostly in mop up time for Ohio State.
We didn't have the full gauge on how good this guy was actually starting until the 2018 season.

Dear god please make it stop. For fricks sake you millennials having to sale JD shows everything that needs to be said.

I definitely wasn’t trying to disprove him. Joe severely under threw Terrace I believe though and Stingley wrestled it from him. I think our defense is going to be good

Thank you for noting that. It’s worth noting that LSU’s defense is being led by a Super Bowl winning coach and may have something to do with the improved play by the defense.

I really loved the discipline in match coverage. Really excited to see the different blitz and stunt packages up front when the bullets start flying. The coverage shell will be difficult to beat as long as Ward/Foucha/Burns don’t get burnt deep.

What about the defenses he face last year.
Were they lead by Super Bowl winning defensive coaches as well?

BATON ROUGE — LSU football on Monday announced that sixth-year senior quarterback Myles Brennan was retiring from football.
The news comes in light of a tightly contested starting quarterback battle this preseason between Brennan, Arizona State senior transfer Jayden Daniels and redshirt freshman Garrett Nussmeier. There's also freshman Walker Howard, although the expectation is he will redshirt this season.
But with Brennan out of the picture, where does LSU's quarterback battle stand under first-year coach Brian Kelly? Here's a look at who may have the edge after 10 preseason practices.
Why Jayden Daniels should be the starting quarterback
Daniels has two advantages over Nussmeier: starting experience and mobility.

Daniels started 29 games at Arizona State and threw for 6,024 yards with 45 total touchdowns. Nussmeier has never started a collegiate game.
That prior exposure matters under Kelly, who tends to play quarterbacks with experience.
At Notre Dame, Kelly's last starter was Wisconsin transfer Jack Coan, who had started 18 games with the Badgers before winning the job. The quarterback prior to Coan, Ian Book, didn't become the Fighting Irish's starter until the fourth game of his junior season.
Daniels is also a very good athlete who is not afraid to tuck the ball and run. He rushed for 1,288 yards and 13 touchdowns during his time at Arizona State and last season ran for 710 yards, second most on the team.
His running ability is appealing to offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock, a staunch believer in the value of mobile quarterbacks in his offenses.
"I think mobility is a key anytime at the quarterback position, especially when you're playing against some of the dynamic athletes that there is upfront in SEC defenses," Denbrock said last week.

So he averaged 15 TD a season both running and throwing.

LSU couldn't run the ball.
Like 45 yards compared to almost 200 for Arizona St.
Jayden Daniels completed 13 passes for the game.
Boutte caught almost that many by himself.
Our WR aren't gona be involved with JD as the starter not like they should.

19.33 per my math. That’s 45 passing plus 13 rushing over three seasons.

How do you know this? You keep acting like everyone else can improve but Daniels. You seriously come off like you have a personal issue with the guy.

He will not score against dissent defenses.

quote:you act like the same ASU personnel and offense is what LSU will run Plus you act like Daniels can’t possibly improve even though he has proven coaches working with him that will tailor an offense to his strengths. You have been melting for almost 24 hours
So he averaged 15 TD a season both running and throwing.

See you just added 13 passing TD to him assuming he would have had his best year.
Why not add only 5 or 7.
