If they ever change, they need to make sure the pants and helmets are the same color. That is mandatory.

I dont' want a more metallic gold. Keep it the way it is.

I do wish LSU would use a more purple, purple instead of the blueish purple. I swear on TV especially for basketball it looks more like blue than purple. I want our uniforms and hats, t-shirts, etc to be purple NOT blue. It just doesn't look right for the sideline people to be wearing a blue-purplse instead of a true purple.

Definately keep the Ole Gold we use today. I just can't support a metallic gold helmet.

However, I do think that the helmets have become slightly more yellow over the years, but its really hard to tell...so the change, if any, has been slight.

Here are some changes suggested on this board regarding the use of the Geaux Font and the Tiger Eye.

Our band wears the official LSU color scheme. The deep purple and the old gold look, not metallic like ND.

Take a closer look at that band uniform. That ain't purple on those uni's. A uniform manufacturer couldn't be found that produced an actual "purple" color for the trousers or cover (hat). That's actually a very dark blue. Darker than navy, even. But it's only a dark blue.

(I know. . . I hated to discover that when I was issued my band uniform some 25 years ago.)

big difference between our lighter gold/canary yellow we currently have and old gold(which is darker) and of course the sparkling gold like notre dame etc.

Just a few more examples of the slightly darker gold...

My take...I think it's partly the film of the day, partly due to many photos being at night, and partly because the color WAS a tad darker, more mustardy than Big Bird Yellow.

LSU has won all of its NC's with canary yellow helmets.

LSU officially claims three national championships (1958, 2003 & 2007); however, the school has been recognized as national champions by polling organizations on four additional occasions: 1908, 1935, 1936 and 1962.

LSU Tigers Wiki

So technically, we had won three national titles before adopting the 1956 helmet:

So in '35 and '36, we wore helmets similar to this one:

So it looks like for most of our history, canary yellow has been the norm as opposed to old gold.
