this has definitely been arguely the best time ever to be a LSU tiger fan. I know the old timers won't agree but I think the records and the NC's back that up.

If my calculations are correct and forgetting which coach was when, I think we have a pretty good argument. This is from 2000 through today.
118-33 Overall
66-27 SEC
8-3 Bowl games
3-1 SEC Championship
2 BCS Championships(Oklahoma & Ohio State)
78% Overall winning percentage
71% SEC winning percentage
73% in bowl games
75% in SEC championship game
100% in BCS National Championship games

I admit I wasn't until last year but now I support him as much if not more than I did saban.

You see TWT, this statement alone shows you base your reasoning on emotion. Saban was the best thing to happen to LSU in 30 plus years. But when HE chose to leave, you weren't willing to let another coach come in without you judging him with Saban glasses. It took you 6 years to support Miles and Saban has coached two different teams in those 6 years. That proves ScoopandScore's point. It's the fan like yourself that makes the Saban vs Miles thing an issue. My OP is the opposite of that. We, as fans, have been very fortunate to have both come to LSU.

If Miles and LSU go into Bryant Denny Stadium and beat Alabama this year, there will be no doubt who the better coach is. Especially if LSU runs the table and goes undefeated the rest of the year. And here's why I say that.

Alabama has had the Number 1 ranked recruiting class 3 out of the last 4 years. Coming into this year the had 4 players on the preseason All SEC defensive team compared to 1 for LSU. The had 3 players on the preseason All SEC team compared to NONE for LSU. They currently have 3 players on the semifinalist list for the Lombardi Trophy. They also have one of the leading candidates for the Heisman Trophy. There defense is currently ranked 1st in almost every defensive category there is. If LSU beats this team how could anyone say it wasn't because of coaching?

Also and more importantly, if LSU goes undefeated, at the end of the year Miles will have an overall better winning percentage than Saban as a college head coach.

TigerFlash this adds so much to the point I'm making. Although these are two entirely different coaches, they are neck and neck in winning percentages. What keeps a coach from being fired??? Winning. What draws recruits to a program???? Winning. What puts fans in the stands??? Winning. These two are proven winners.

Even though, I agree we've had two of the best college coaches. I have to begrudgingly give my props to Urban Meyers as well, that is until he lost his edge.
