Personally: I would call the police the first time he touched her.

See also: Some people can actually learn from 'group therapy' for abusive men (or women). If your daughter is in such a relationship, steer them to a support group for men arrested for wife battery.

2 we definitely won't lose (ULM and McNeese)
2 we probably won't lose (Miss. St. and Vandy)
2 we definitely won't win (Florida and Bama)
2 we probably won't win (Ole Miss and Arkie)
4 that could realistically go either way (UNC, WVU, Tenn, Aub)

If the four tossups break with home field advantage, we beat WVU and Tennessee, lose to Auburn, and the neutral field game with UNC determines whether we're 7-5 or 6-6.

I really think this is a worst case scenario.

I just can't see UF being that good without Tebow, Haden, Spikes and Dunlap. I think we beat them in the swamp.

I don't think we lose to Ole Miss for a third time straight (and second time @ home straight).

We will beat UNC, not badly but it won't go down to the wire...they really aren't that good yet.

Realistic Scenario: We go 9-3 and get a Jan 1 bowl bid.

Anything less then a double digit win season is both unacceptable and unfathomable to me. If we have these AWFUL season predictions some of you are tossing up I will honestly cry. No reason for that kind of a bullshite record.

Just an idea of what's needed,IMO, to get a 10-2 or 11-1 season.
Passing assessment
2007
Flynn 12gm 56.27cmppct 202cmp 11int 21TDs 2407pyds 200.58ypgm 6.7yds/att
2009
JJ 12gm 61.49cmppct 182cmp 7int 17TDs 2166pyds 180.5ypgm 7.32yds/att

So 4 more TDs and 20 more pass yards per game needed to be at least on par with Flynn's performance. In the passing game that is the threshold that must be reached.

Rushing assessment(in context)
2007
LSU - 14gms 612car 2998yds 4.9avg 35tds 214.4yds/gm

2009
LSU- 13gms 435car 1596yds 3.67avg 15tds 122.77yds/gm
Ala- 14gms 601car 3011yds 5.01avg 31tds 215.07yds/gm
Fla- 14gms 555car 3105yds 5.59avg 30tds

Again, too much focus on the QB position and not enough on the running game. Both Florida and Alabama were successful running the ball in 2008 and 2009. We were successful in 2007. Ala threw for 2396yds and 11tds in 2008 and still went undefeated in the regular season. In 2009, 2631 in 14gms with 17tds. The one constant between LSU, Alabama and Florida is 3000 yards rushing equals a pretty successful year in the SEC. The key is the running game. It's pretty consistent between 2007-2009 in terms of determining success. We need at least 2900 yds rushing and more than 25 TDs on the ground. It's not that cut and dry because fumbles and interceptions can directly nullify those statistics. Also, the defense must stay at least at the level of 2009. If we can get there we will win at least two more games than last year and win more comfortably as well.

You should really re-post this into one of the various JJ vs JL vs CG threads.

The run game is directly affected by the QB Position, If you cant throw it, other teams know it and stack the box to stop the run...hence no offense...so, everything depends on the QB...

I don't see how. I've got us winning two or three of the four games against North Carolina, West Virginia, Tennessee and Auburn. No way is that a worst case scenario.
quote:

I just can't see UF being that good without Tebow, Haden, Spikes and Dunlap. I think we beat them in the swamp.

Florida has recruited very well, and Meyer knows how to use the players he has. They probably won't be as good as they were the last two years, but then we aren't very good, either. They're probably the one team in the SEC with more talent than we have, and of course they have obviously superior coaching. I don't see how we win this game.
quote:

I don't think we lose to Ole Miss for a third time straight (and second time @ home straight).

But based on what? The fact we've lost to them two years in a row is no indication we will win this year. If it's any indication of anything, it's that we'll lose again. Nutt will have a running game (he always does), which will strike right at our biggest weakness on defense (too small), and it won't take much of a defense to shut us down. Also, the last two years have shown that losing to Alabama pretty much shuts down our season. Near losses to Troy and La. Tech, plus a 1-3 record vs. Ole Miss and Arkie (the one win being in OT at home) indicate how crappy we get after Alabama ruins our season. This year shows no promise of being any different, except that this season has a bigger chance than the last two of being ruined before we get to the Alabama game.
quote:

We will beat UNC, not badly but it won't go down to the wire...they really aren't that good yet.

But how good are we? Their defense should have the upper hand on our offense, and our small, thin defense may wear down if the offense can't keep them off the field. If the game were played today, I'd call this a tossup. This will be a very tough game, and could very easily go either way.
quote:

Realistic Scenario: We go 9-3 and get a Jan 1 bowl bid.

I just don't see how it's realistic for us to go 5-1 vs. UNC, West Virginia, Tennessee, Auburn, Ole Miss and Arkansas. That's what it will take to go 9-3 for the season. Well, that and not screwing up against Mississippi State or Vanderbilt (which could also happen).

7-5 or 6-6 is far from a worst case scenario. Worst case scenario is Jefferson is not improved, the OL still sucks, the defense wears down and we lose all of the tossup games by fading late in the game as our defense tires out. And that doesn't even take into account Miles blowing another two games with his patented coaching blunders, or the very real possibility of suffering injuries in the already thin defensive front. 4-8 could very well happen (although I don't predict it) in a "worst case scenario". Hell, even 2-10 is possible.

I totally agree (except for the crying part). It is unacceptable. We have all the necessary ingredients to be a consistent top 10 program. The fact that we're not is an indictment of the head coach.

no it's not

anything is possible, otherwise no one would go to the games.

LSU can go 14-0 or 0-12.
