I believe that some of the lower ranks when the opponent is in deeper territory is because we tend to blitz in that area. This has alot to do with the passing numbers as well.

As an offense progresses down the field against LSU, the Tigers' rush defense becomes tougher to move the ball against, while its pass defense softens up a bit.

Starting at the opponent's 1-yard line and moving forward in 20-yard increments, LSU ranks 42nd, 20th, fourth, sixth and 32nd, respectively, against the run in those sections of the field (with the last section being the red zone).

Against the pass in the sections of the field described above, LSU's rankings go in the opposite direction: ninth, 39th, 38th, 69th and 82nd.

You do realize LSU has given up on 3 touchdowns in three games, and that was against one team with a great offense averaging oround 60 a game against teams not named LSU...and State is averaging around 600+ yards and 45 points against teams not named LSU.....

You fail to understand this.

Both Oregon and Miss State offenses > than WV offense. It will sink in for you Saturday. You will be back on this board saying congrats...etc......just sayin.

I respect a fan that stands up for his team. Surely you can't really think WV even remotely matches up with LSU in talent...

How are we ranked 82 in passing in the red zone when we have only allowed one passing touchdown?

those are interesting stats... but the problem with only looking at stats are that it doesn't give you any context.

Both Oregon and Mississippi State passed the ball downfield in the 4th quarter when the game was out of hand. Oregon passed the ball down the field on two scoring drives, and during both scoring drives (the last one ending with 12 seconds on the clock) LSU was up by 20 points. Mississippi State passed the ball down the field on their last drive as well, down 13, but didn't score as time expired.

So yeah, the stats reflect one thing, but in reality... there's a reason the stats portray LSU's secondary as getting 'softer', the games were out of hand and they were in prevent defense.

It should be a great game.

Wow!! This is going to be painful for you. You will be doing this when our defense enters the field of play...

I think LSU fans tend to be a little over confident.

Doesn't matter what I say on here, I will just get flamed. Doesn't matter if I use real football stats etc, I will get flamed.

LSU fans are clammoring for 4-5 interceptions from Geno, he has thrown 9 in his career. He also played in Death Valley as a Sophomore in just his 2nd road start (and definitely his first "hostile" road start) and he still looked decent against a stellar D - while running a crappy offense.

A year older in a MUCH better offense, I expect him to perform better than he did last year. We lost 2 key offensive playmakers, Jock Sanders and Noel Devine (who was blatantly injured out of bounds by LSU last year) - Jock hasn't really been missed. Our younger recievers have developed into reliable targets along with a transfer who has shown the ability to be a great posession reciever. The lack is where ND would have been, but hey - we didn't have him last year and if not for Stewart being dumb enough to punt to Patrick Peterson - we would have walked out of Death Valley with a win.

I think if we can key in on the run we can stop your offense. Lee doesn't scare me.
