I remember watching that game on Kirby Smith's sole TV in the main lobby. We all went nuts! Great memories and thanks for sharing!

I remember it as the Hilliard and James Gang, but this article refers to them as the James Gang.

I really think the link provided by insanity illustrates the recruiting crop including Dalton Hilliard, Garry James, and Eric Martin and Herman Fontenot. But the best quote is Stovall not selling out for TV monies.

the television networks approached LSU and asked to broadcast the game on one condition: the game be moved to daytime.

Jerry Stovall said no. LSU turned down the money and exposure in order to preserve the tradition of Saturday Night in Tiger Stadium. LSU is supposed to play at night, and by God, Stovall was gonna play at night.

I think this was Hilliard's coming out game.
I was there - without oranges.
I also believe this was one of the games the fog set in.

He's in my restaurant all the time. Very nice guy. Has an oilfield company now.

I don't care that you weren't alive then. I'm not sure if I care that you are alive now.
