SEC Starts by Florida Pitchers ( LINK)
(sorted by ERA)
Johnny Magliozzi, 1 (9 other appearances as reliever), 1.52 ERA
Tucker Simpson, 1, 2.45 ERA
Danny Young, 5, 2.66 ERA
Jay Carmichael, 4, 3.24 ERA
Jonathon Crawford, 7, 3.98 ERA
Eric Hanhold, 2, 6.52 ERA
Bobby Poyner, 1, 7.56 ERA

Just saw this article from the Orlando Sentinel: " Gators freshman Jay Carmichael returns in time for visit to LSU" (April 30).

quote:

"I think his arm feels fine," Gators coach Kevin O'Sullivan said before Tuesday's practice.

Junior RHP Jonathan Crawford (3-5, 4.06 ERA) is scheduled to take the mound on Saturday, but O'Sullivan planned to have six pitchers throw an inning Wednesday while weighing his options.

Freshman LHP Danny Young required stitches in his mouth after a pitch struck him during Friday's win against Tennessee.

"I don't feel good starting him," O'Sullivan said. "He probably needs to get his feet wet again."

The Gators entered the season with two of the nation's top pitchers. But junior RHP Karsten Whitson (12-1, 2.69 ERA) was lost to a shoulder injury and Crawford began the season 0-4.

O'Sullivan elevated Carmichael to the top of the rotation in mid-March and a week later he won impressively at SEC East leader Vanderbilt.

But Carmichael has pitched just once since March 29 — for 1 2/3 innings on April 13 against South Carolina.

It seems to me like they are playing the weather also....they don't expect this guy to go a ton of innings, so they are letting him pitch Thursday.

if today's weather is anything like the last 2 days, they will play tonight. Last 2 days it rained it's arse off during the day and cleared up around 4 or so.

Any idea what time game 1 would start if rained out? Sure would suck to have a crowd of 2k because its played during a workday when you have Fri,Sat and Sun available.

I think if anything they would DH him. He's to strong behind the plate to take out the game. My opinion
