How many national championships does Texas have in football?
Football. Texas has been a national champion in football nine times based on the Official NCAA Football Record Book, which names every team that a “major” selector awards a championship. Based on that publication, 1914, 1941, 1963, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1977, 1981, and 2005 are national champions.

The LSU Tigers claim four national championships, all of which were awarded by the AP or Coaches' wire-service polls, Bowl Championship Series or College Football Playoff. 2003, 2007 & 2019 and 1958 was back in the day

Obviously LSU since year 2000 has 3 and Texas 1 but to say Texas is not relevant is absurd. LINK
