Wife and I ( no pics) are going and bringing my 81 year old Mother in Law…again(no pics).

Need advice. We would like to experience as much as the CWS atmosphere has to offer. What are some places (restaurants and bars) that are must see and must experience?

The Drover for Steak one night. Barrett's is the old school LSU bar. Everyone will say Rocco's, but Slowdown next door I think is way better. It also has covering & AC if you have your Mother in Law.

If you like Breweries:

My favorite there in 2023 was Bearded Brewer Artisan Ales (its a trek though, but so are the good Steak places).
Just one block north of the stadium is Kros Strain Draft works in a center called "The Ashton" where there is 3-5 restaurants and shops in it as well.

(psst also in 2026 Rally Cap brewing - a Baton Rouge Native - is opening their second location before this time in 2026. Just spreading the word!)

2nd Kros Strain. Very good beer. Brickway is cool too as it's a distillery and brewery.

In regards to Omaha, go down to the Riverwalk when you get a chance. Some nice views and restaurants nearby - they have an old town/french quarter area close by as well. There’s also the bridge it’s pretty neat. I don’t have any restaurants that were super memorable, but overall nothing bad.

As for the CWS, everything is all right there by the stadium. I was in town from August-December in 23 so just missed LSU, and most of the non bars surrounding the stadium were closed.

Omaha was a neat place to live. You guys should have a good time.

Couple who owned The Drover divorced. One got it, and one opened Legacy Chophouse. I think it is better than Drover now. JMO as a guy who lives in Omaha.

As has been mentioned before, Henry Doorly Zoo is fantastic. Consistently ranked as #1 or 2 zoo in US. Old Rosenblatt Stadium was where Zoo parking is now. They kept a small version where the field was, so that is a top attraction.
