Exactly.

What lower echelon coach do you have in mind, and why would LSU pay him a $2 million raise. I'm guessing you're hoping for Petersen...I don't see him coming here. He's already a god where he's at. I know, I know...coaching ego will make him want to come to the SEC. We always say that, yet it never happens.

I love all the people that are just sure we will get someone better. Alabama thought so after Stallings and look at the hell they went through before Saban. Look at UT after Fulmer, Texas after Akers, A&M after Slocum, ND after Holtz. Top jobs all that were a lot harder to fill than some people thought.

Leach

No major program's administration is going to take a chance on a loose cannon, head case like Leach. His best case scenario for his next job will be low level BCS school throwing caution to the wind.

Lets say Miles has a 9-3 or possibly a 10-2 season

This would not get him fired....and getting there with our current QB situation is unlikely unless there is a change and then it's still an "if".

Will another coach want to come here...

If LSU steps up to the table with $$$$$, and you know they well + coaching egos as others have said it would be no problem in getting a quality HC, and here is another "if"! If they start the coaching search early enough. IMO when Saban left it many coaches had already signed contracts.

These and the talent pool available in this state I think it would be no problem.

Then why has LSU never done it before, and why do you think they'll suddenly start for whoever the next hire is...whenever that may be. Keep in mind the state of LSU's financial situation.

If only the ole ball coach had waited just another few weeks.

Name me a coach LSU will offer that kind of money to?

If the team plays to their potential, then I have no beef, but the coaches are failing the players miserably. If we have 112 ranked offense talent, then I will have to live with 112 ranked offense. I don't think we have 112 ranked talent on offense.

Depends on who is interested and what's the situation....

Don't act like LSU wouldn't shell out even 3 mill on a Muschamp or Peterson type.

I'd LOVE either of them.

I just don't see LSU offering $3 million to a guy who has never had a head coaching job before, no matter his pedigree, and we have to hope he gets tired of waiting for probably the best college coaching job out there...which he has already been guaranteed.

Petersen, maybe I'm just a cynic, but I don't see him coming here. He's already a god where he's at with about half the pressure, and a cake schedule every year. We'd have to hope that he wants to get to a place where he has a more legitimate shot to actually win a NC, and Boise may even legitimize that for him this season.

Is that what you think LSU will start a coach off with?

try 1.4 - 2.5 milion for an "Up & coming" coach who will leaving in 3-5 years.

Well hell, I'll just view that as a vetting process then. I don't want a coach who thinks they are going to lose games.

bmy...

what's your point?

that other elite coaches also mishandle QB situations also. it's a tough position to recruit and you never know what you got until it's gone.

imo the QB position combined with scholarship limitations is the reason that no team stays truly dominant any more.

Ask Nebraska what happens when you fire a coach for going 9-3. Took their program 10 years to recover!
No one wants that job!
