quote:Okay, but is it a low bar for a coach to take her softball team to a regional EVERY YEAR for the 15 years she has been the head coach and the Tigers have played a Top 10 strength of schedule every year?
Getting to the post season when the field is 64 is a pretty low bar.
LSUSports.net-Beth Torino Bio
I don't follow softball enough to know how those stats compare with other programs over the last 15 seasons. Do you?

Yeah I guess I do since I can answer your question pretty emphatically. Yes, you do expect a program with LSU’s history and resources to routinely compete for top 8 seeds, Sec titles, and the occasional trip to the cws to get beat by Oklahoma.

This coach is making over 400000 a year.If you are a college coach making that kind of money in a sport loosing a ton of money every year, you have to be held to a higher standard. She makes to much money to loose to a school that doesn’t have near the resources of LSU.Its like Paul loosing to stoneybrook at the box.Thats unacceptable!!!

Poor LSU fans….. it’s a championship or bust with every team on campus..

She hasn't been fired because women's softball is not worth the effort. Will probably be phased out once revenue sharing kicks in.
According to Title IX, what would happen then, casual? Which men’s sport are you then cutting to re-balance the scales?
And even if cutting sports does somehow become a real topic of discussion, there are others that draw smaller crowds and get much less TV time than Softball. There’s no way it would be first or even second on the chopping block on the women’s side. That’s just nonsense.

That may be the case, but I would wager she gets another year. McMahon may have to be dealt with in 26 and rev sharing is about to start. That may make it harder to pull the trigger on a coach who isn’t turning in losing seasons.

I wouldn’t disagree with the decision to move on, at all. I just have my doubts it happens this year.

Yeah I guess I do since I can answer your question pretty emphatically.
How many schools have a head softball coach whose team has gone to a regional for 15 consecutive years and who are those schools?
In any case, go ahead and fire her and hope for the best in hiring a coach who will do better than Torino. It won't affect my life one bit...

Do your own googling; consistent mediocrity does not success make.
Good to know. Again that bar isn’t very high these days.

I don’t know much about softball, yet I know how to spell the head coaches last name. Shut up dumbass.

You 100% have to fire her

He's so scared to fire her. She should have been fired years ago. She has had way too much talent over the years.
I don't refer to her as "Softball Nikki" (Nikki Fargas) for nothing.
LSU Alums & Fans should have been singing "Farewell & Adieu" several years ago, but here she is still hanging on.
The only thing we can do as Alums and Fans is to let our opinions be known.
Scott Woodward: swoodward@lsu.edu.
Keli Zinn: kelizinn@lsu.edu (Executive Deputy Athletic Director/Chief Operating Officer)
Beth Torina: btorina@lsu.edu (Ask her to resign)

Don’t you think if Coach Howard thought she was a SEC player he would have offered her? She committed 2 years ago
She is playing for team USA this year too. Maybe that is the huge problem that the current coaches couldn't identify the right talent to win at elite level.
