Saban may have got us to the National Championship and implemented excellence; however, this has nothing to do with Miles sustaining it. Each team that is fielded is different. Each year is different. And no coach can easily replicate the success of another. Look at Muschamp and Weis at Florida....handed one of the best recruited, most talented and elite teams in the SEC.

He awoke the sleeping giant. The most important thing for LSU football was to lock up the in state players. Any coach could have brought LSU back if they were good recruiters. Just so happens Saban was here.

"woke the sleeping giant"

spot on.

Louisiana boys built LSU's football program, as it shoud be. Give NS credit for convincing them to stay in state and having an agressive D.

i think we can all see now how NS wins.... he has sick, sick talent that allows him to win DESPITE his poor game day decisions. when he matches wits with a good coach with similar talent, he losses.

George Washington built this country and is the reason we are what we are today. Barack Obama had nothing to do with it.

OK - then Miles built the program OK State has today. And they have a better shot at the title than Bama.

He's a jerk, and that statement is the same as if he'd said that "Mike Shula built the program that Bama has today".

What a joke and insult to Les Miles with all of his players and 7 years in the books he kicks Nicky's arse.

Finebaum has to make himself feel better about losing to LSU.

Saban built the program to what it was in 2004. He has nothing to do with it today. When people act like its easy to coach at LSU, it shows their ignorance.

ETA: Any by Finebaum's brilliant logic, does that mean Les Miles built Oklahoma State to what it is today? Before Miles, OSU was garbage.

Dinardo did that. If Dinardo could have maintained good coordinators.....

For you younger guys, it was a combo of Emmert, Saban, Bertman who all had foresight in building LSU to the level it is. They did away with the good old boy control of money and power and built this thing. Saban was very instrumental in this regard. None of this would have happened without Emmert. It is much more than Emmert hiring Saban. It was a president who knew that money had to be spent and that facilities had to become top notch.

Also just as impressive is the fact that Coach Miles has maintained and even improved the whole deal. Yes, it is very difficult to follow a legend and then become a legend yourself. I expect that Mr. Alleva is also not of the good old boy mold and understands this is big business.
The Miles hire was a great hire. Yall know I have been a big supporter of his from the beginning. So many people have said such good things about his coaching skill and managerial skill from the beginning.

Thank God for LSU. I mean that literally.

Well if he's talking about bringing LSU back to winning that's not true I believe dinardo did that. Now he improved on what gerry and helped win a championship and les has improved on what nick did by keeping us winning and winning another championship. But this program is all miles who in my opinion is greater then both of them and has kept us in the elite of all football programs by his great recruiting and high standards.

Saban gets zero credit for the state of our program today... CLM is the man of the hour.. he is doing it with his players, his coaches, his style.... period..

Saban gets credit for what he is doing at Bama..
