Sonny Dykes had TCU in the CFP in Year 1 and followed up with 5-7 and 9-4 seasons. One season doesn’t prove that a coach has established a program as a consistent contender. LSU was better than either of those teams in each of LSU’s first two seasons. LSU just didn’t have the advantage of the weak schedules those two schools faced this year.

Georgia was 10-3 in each of Richt’s last two seasons. That’s not even close to the 11-12 in O’s last two seasons. Richt still brought in great talent. He just couldn’t get them over the hump. They were the epitome of a tailor made program ready to compete.

Losing to Florida was such a disaster for the program this year.

but half of you hate BK so much I don't think you'll be able to enjoy next season if the team is successful.
Hyperbole personified. Why is it when a fan points out BK has regressed, said fan is a hater ? Where is that protocol ? I don't hate BK. He failed in so many ways in 24. That's a fact.

For all the, he beat Bama his first season, had a Heisman winner hyperbole. He also hired House and got rid of Baker. Then brought Baker back for an enormous salary. Hired a HS db coach. Didn't think special teams needed attention. Couldn't stop the bleeding when House lost the defense. Looked bewildered every time a qb from aggy, Bama or Florida ran through the defense.

Again, why does his failures and fans pointing them out conclude they're haters ? Serious question. Every LSU fan wants him to win at a high level, and will be thrilled if he does.

Comical. ASU was 1-9 before he took over. First year went 3-9 (Pac12) oof. Second year — coincidentally when they transferred to the watered down Lil12 (minus OU and TX of course) they go 11-3. Win the Lil12 then get beat in the playoffs. Great game, competitive, but still a first round L. Have the 44th ranked recruiting class, 30th transfer class. No Heisman winner. No bowl wins. 14-12 record. Sorry bub. Not even remotely close to BK’s success so far at LSU.

Cigs definitely took over losing program, for sure. 3-9 the year before. Went 11-2 in his first year. Only two ranked teams he played, beat him. Didn’t play in the conference championship game. No Heisman winner. 1st round loss. 65th recruiting class. (16th in the B1G). 11-3 record, 0 bowl wins, 0 ranked wins, 0 conference appearances. Sorry bub, Cigs is good and on the right track but has a long way to go to surpass BK’s success thus far.

I didn’t even address Kirby Smart. Cmon dude you serious? He was handled a 10-3 highly ranked perennial contender from Mark Richt. Born on 3rd base and it still took him 6 years to win a NC. And Billy Napier suckkkks. No way anyone thinks he’s more success than BK at this point.

Thank God for a 12-team playoff otherwise neither team is in the CFP. If there was a 12-team playoff in 2022, LSU is in. Sorry man, facts don’t lie.

Deion Sanders took a 1-11 team he inherited to a 9-4 record and Top 25 ranking in two seasons. His first two seasons as a D1 HC with much less resources than LSU. Army and Navy ranked ahead, nevermind. Smh

This should tell you everything you need to know about the rankings and how subjective they are. LSU and Colorado have exact same record. LSU’s SOS was 9th, COL 65th. LSU beat two of the final top 25 teams, COL beat none. LSU finished their season by winning a bowl game, COL did not.

Yettttttt….COL ranked, LSU isn’t.

So using “Deion is ranked after 2 seasons and BK isn’t” is hardly an argument based on objectivity. Also the “with much less resources” is wholly false. They have 3 guys on their team making more NIL than the whole LSU team combined. So, COL has the resources. That’s silly to think otherwise.

Good. I'm not bullish on BK. He's gonna have to prove he has the coaching chops to excel at LSU. So far for every step forward he took 2 steps back.

So Les Miles proved how good of a coach he was to you?

Don't you understand how many variables go into winning a NC?(players,REFEREES,coaches, schedule, LUCK, inches, mental lapses, bonehead plays, academics, injuries, the list is long.

The poll is a joke and largely based on what the teams did last year not what they are bringing back this year. They are also predicting records not actual strength of the teams. Colorado had the Sanders brothers and Hunter but not much other talent. Those three are gone so how in the world do they think they will be a top 25 team. Boise lost their stud RB but still at 8. Missouri is losing their QB and Luther Burden but somehow they will be better than last year? Indiana beat NOBODY with a pulse last year and have a tougher schedule this year with a new starting QB and they are 10th? Etc etc etc. If you made the voters put their money on head to head games against LSU I guarantee you they wouldn’t bet against LSU against half of those teams.

I believe the OP, and the thread, refer to the final AP poll of the 2024 season, not a projection of the 2025 rankings.

ETA I didn't read all the posts, though.

Just look at teams ranked 20-25. LSU would be easy favorite playing any of those teams.
