The coaches love what they see in Eades. It may not work out, but this is what they are planning.

I've heard the same, and I expect he will be successful in this role. Hopefully rantards don't want him closing his entire career though. We will prob need him as a starter next year.

I'd like to see an all Sophomore weekend rotation next year.

Yeah, Ott deserved a lot of opportunities to get better on the basis of his freshman year, but he's getting very close to the point where he needs to get demoted, if that point hasn't been reached already. Hope he can still come back into better form later in his career though.

I get midweek games, and I understand ott needs work. I just dont see why you force the issue when you have something working and you are down....

ott was amazing not throwing hard, but you see what happens when he's off, he's BP. even if eades is off, it's possible he can still blow it by someone

Agreed. Ott was so tough because he rarely left the ball up and batters would swing at that wicked slider. I don't know whether he's lost his control, lost the movement on his pitches or whether people have just figured him out, but he is throwing BP now. Talk about some fat pitches he's serving up.

I too feel bad for Matty but wow such a difference between '09 and now.

Hope he gets it back.

In the meantime, I think this lets CPM know his staff better. Just can't count on Matty for now.

Answered your own question, getting Ott more work was more important than keeping the game within 4.

They are planning on redshirting Reed. Unless we have multiple pitchers go down with injuries, Reed will not pitch this year.

ahhh, thanks for clarification.

I heard this directly from one of the coaches. I guess things can change, but as of last week that is the deal.

i think hitters have learned to lay off his slider. he's having to eat up more of the zone and not getting as much movement and you essentially have an 85 mph meatball with little movement

if he's able to catch more of the zone and still have good movement, i think he'll be fine, but that just isnt the case right now

For sure. We need him. I don't know what the deal is but this is not a run of bad baseball fortune. He is absolutely getting hammered.

I think the team as a whole needed a win more than anything tonight to get their heads right before the road trip. And now Ott still needs work, and we just lost to ulala. Just gonna keep throwing games away so matty can keep tossing up gopher balls so he can get some work in???

like I said, I understand Ott needs some work, I just think the W was more important tonight. I think that would have done a lot more for him and the entire team. (Not saying we definitely would have won had Dykstra stayed in)

But by all means, keep saying these midweek games dont mean anything. Thats gonna be a tough L for the team to look at...

And hey, at least matty got some work in...

A player's parent told me and I asked a coach last week and he confirmed it.

shoot that was a pretty disappointing outing by Ott

they need to relegate him to middle relief

our top 3 pen arms are

Eades- new closer imo
dykstra
broussard

jury is still out on Berry. Ive seen enough of him previously to where i dont fully trust him. But his inning over the weekend was promising
