On 20 West, once you are 30 miles out of DFW, you will see HWY 80 Terrell exit. Take this to I-30 West.

Beware of the speed traps on 190.

It amazes me how many people in this thread think I-10 to 49 is faster than taking 190.

I know, It's crazy. I'm positive 190 is faster, I'm from BTR and live in Dallas; I've made this trip lots and lots of times.
You can do it in 6 1/2 hrs with minimal speeding if you take 190

This^^ i live on Magnolia Beach Rd in Denham and drove to Dallas last year for training and 190 was definitely the fastest way for me.

I'm just preparing for the same shite we dealt with for aTm...

huge wreck on the spillway (weekly occurrence) causing all West bound traffic to get onto 190 and it will take 2-3 hours to get to I-49

After the Oregon game there was a fire on the highway or something and they made us detour through Longview. Then there was a wreck in Longview or something and we were stuck at that Whataburger for like 2 hours

That sucked. Luckily for me I was headed to Houston.

Damn, I hate I pretty much missed this thread already. But anybody claiming that 190 is a full 30-45 minutes faster than taking I-10 to Lafayette is completely out of their mind. It saves you 15 miles (I didn't make this up. Look it up on the googles). 15 miles at a reduced speed plus stop lights is nowhere near 30 minutes faster.

Download the "Waze" app to your phone and just do what it tells you to do, especially around Dallas where there is so much traffic and so many options to get around.

15 miles that cuts straight across where you're trying to get. It's 30 mins faster, speaking from experience, not google...

I travel it often. This way shaves about 15 minutes off,and then you should take US-80 in Terrell Tx. This will bring you right into downtown Dallas. If you are staying in Arlington or Fort worth and anywhere in between take this same route. Once you get into Dallas follow the signs for Denton( I believe it's 35w) then you will take hwy 183. This will take towards dfw and then you can take 360 to Arlington. This will save you time as well. Try to avoid this route though from about 4:00 pm - 7:00pm

I'll probably be leaving BR around 12 ish so I will probably get to shreveport before the 4 or 5 o clock traffic and get to dallas some time around 7

Exactly. That's why I said it was 15 miles shorter...

Well I'm speaking from experience plus google. But I'm glad your experience defies logic.

A 15 mile difference does not create a 30 minute advantage unless you're suggesting that you average a faster speed on 190 than you do on I-10. It just doesn't add up. At BEST, you're looking at ~15 minutes difference.
