from reading dubois' article, it looked like he went 1-3 with a single, a fly out and a strike out.

I don't know how much Matthews will contribute in the spring but I wouldn't evaluate him on how he pitches in inter squad games where he's restricted to throwing only fastballs and change ups. When pitchers are limited to throwing two pitches and the hitters are aware of that limitation the hitters will prevail more than they normally would.
