Ok that wasn't the message I was really trying to convey. I realize that these guys are bound to these rules. If you choose them, then yeah you should pay for the consequences.
They are held to a higher standard, but people are going to break rules, especially when its concerning something like weed in college.
I don't want to rope the entire athletic population into this, because there are athletes out there that are true leaders and don't risk what they blessed with.

I'm sure saban is smart enough to give his star players a heads up before testing is going to be done or sweep it under the rug if they do fail. He wouldn't wreck a season over a little pot.

That was Miles or LSU being a good little soldier in the war on drugs and actively finding a reason to suspend its best player.
He gave them the reason by being like the other little drug idiots who can't follow rules or laws.If these drug idiots want to blame someone;then, just look in the mirror.Another sad a$$ drug idiot with a victim mentality.Shape up or ship out.

The main problem is the way they handle failed drug tests. Most people think that it's one failed test and you're suspended, but it usually takes about 6 to get any kind of public discipline. This makes all the players think they're invincible

Because we live in a backwards state that is still stuck on stupid. Marijuana is slap on the wrist at other university's. We now live a technological age where there is no more excuses for being ignorant about facts and the harm of substances and why things were made legal and illegal in the first place.
Look at the Missouri incident involving Dorial Green -Beckham. They got caught with more weed than Jefferson and TM7 had in that apartment. They got suspended for only one game and they just plead guilty to a trespassing charge. It even says in the article they treat it like a traffic citation. LINK
Here it was and still is the crime of century with JJ and TM7. BRPD must not have enough murders and rapes, and arm robberys to keep them busy
Will people wake up here? No probably not. We are the state that gives someone life with parole for two ounces of weed. On the other hand we give the kid in Hammond that gets drunk and runs over five of his friends in his car killing three just seven years. He will only do three in a satellite or work release. Hmmm marijuana possession or taking three live which is worse. This state is so backwards its has ceased being a joke anymore.

Little drug idiots who smoke pot are far less dangerous than the typical little alcohol idiots that infest every college city and message board. Oh but alcohol is legal, I forgot.
No one here is talking about crackheads or tweakers but to a lunk like you there's probably no difference.

Look, I think weed should be legal too but you just can't be in the position that tyrann was in and then bring that trouble into your apartment. He was essentially on probation with miles and then went and did what he did.
Also, when dorial green Beckham was caught did they have the weed in individual bags and a scale?

no excuse for this nonsense. if we don't want people to "hear about LSU's problems" ... then we need to fix it at the source

It's about following the rules and laws and personal responsiblities.Yes, alcohol is legal but only if you meet the legal requirements. If something is illegal, immoral or unethical, then don't do it.The reason this country is screwedup is the little bastards that can't follow rules and laws.

LSU's drug testing policy is different that if the NCAA tested you.

This is true.
NCAA has not tested anyone in over 5 years I understand.
USC has no drug testing program.

when weed is legalized these lame policies will no longer matter. hopefully within ten years this shite stops.

This is the mindset, these days. I'm sure it is everywhere to a certain degree. When I was in school, a drug arrest in your history or failed drug test and you could forget getting a decent job. I guess things have changed.

Seeing as how drug tests and other violations were completely taken out of miles' hands, i wonder just how lax the testing was, or how much looking the other way was done before the change. it also makes you wonder how much inside info that current players were giving recruits as to how lax certain rules were. i wonder how many tests tm7 failed before the new rules were put in place. i also can't help but wonder how many piss tests are conducted by football staffs at other schools instead of the college admins. i would like to see a list . you think maybe in miami that the coaching staff might be in control rather than the admins ?

Osu, usc, the u. Im sure plenty of players did drugs and it just didnt matter. Prob still do. UT prob keeps everything under wraps with ease.
Also seems like Aub, UGA, UF, and UTenn have had just as many if not more problems over the years.

Why do yall think Wing is suspended for drugs?
Its prolly grades.
Because some writer is not telling the whole story. Wing never failed a test at LSU. He has known for a few months now that he was going to declare. He hasn't been going to class, and when he got scheduled for a drug test he skipped that too. Compliance wouldn't allow him to reschedule the test, so it's being reported that he failed it.

It's about responsibility not the weed, the alcohol, meth or anything else. These young men are given the opportunity of a life time and they selfishly blow it because they can't take responsibility for their actions.
The sad thing is this attitude will carry over into the rest of their adult life and they will continue to make stupid decisions and blame someone else. Only one day, there will be no one to bail them out and they'll be bagging groceries at the Piggly Wiggly!

I'd also had heard that he was basically locked in on declaring early for the draft, but this part of your post simply isn't true. He was in one of my classes this past semester and was there almost every day.

Ray Lewis was basically an accessory to murder, now he's one of the league's most marketed stars.
