Just got his goodbye email he wrote to students. Don’t let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya, bum!
quote:
Dear Students, After almost seven years at LSU, I have accepted the position as the incoming president of Oregon State University. My last day as president of LSU will be Dec. 31, 2019. I’ll be returning to a faculty role to conduct research and write through March 31, 2020, as well as work closely with the Board of Supervisors and administration on an orderly transition to continue the strong path forward for the university. Tom Galligan, who has done an exceptional job as the dean of the Paul M. Hebert Law Center and is the former president of Colby-Sawyer College, will serve as the interim president. I look forward to the remainder of my time at LSU and working with Oregon State to prepare for my transition as president. It’s been a privilege to be your leader and to celebrate your hard-fought successes. You are forever a part of LSU history as the largest and most diverse student body on record, including consecutive record-breaking entering and graduating classes. And I’m proud to say that, as a soon-to-be LSU graduate, you’ll enter the workforce with one of the nation’s most valuable degrees, ranking #1 in the SEC when comparing earnings to student debt, and #5 among the nation’s flagships. And perhaps most importantly, I have had the privilege of witnessing so many of you take on greater challenges than you ever anticipated, push yourselves beyond your known limits, and work incredibly hard to achieve your dreams, all while watching out for your fellow Tigers. Please know that I will continue to fight for LSU in my capacity as a national advocate for public higher education. I am so proud of all you’ve done so far, and look forward to seeing your future accomplishments. Although I’m moving on to new challenges, I will always treasure my time with you at LSU, and expect to see great things from each and every one of you. Sincerely, F. King Alexander signature F.
