The flyovers generally are slight modification to the already existing flights needed to get the pilots their training hours. So it really does not cost much if any taxpayer money that wouldn't have been spent.

I stand corrected. I wasnt aware of that. Of course we could still argue the need to conduct the amount of training($$$) we do when we're the sole superpower left in the world and we out-spend the next closest Nation 10-to-1 in military.

No, bro. I love the U.S. and its FOUNDING principals but blind Nationalism is as dangerous as it gets or any form of subjective, illogical, emotionally driven drivel.

Why? What are we still so afraid of in the world? Even shithead Rumsfeld understood the need to go to a lighter, faster more specialized military. Dont even go the defense route with your argument because we havent fought a defensive war since WWII. Besides the best defense we have is an armed populace. Thats one of the main justifications for the 2nd Amend. Ask the Swiss.

I have a feeling this is going to get flagged to the PoliBoard.

These flyovers, despite firing up the crowd, are great advertising for the Air Force and are great recruiting tools. Plus, the pilots get some needed flying time.

We attended the Indy 500 this year and they had two vintage WWII aircraft do a flyover: a B-25 Mitchell and a P-51 Mustang. The B-25 was low and slow. Both were loud and proud! Loved hearing those pistons banging away as they flew over!
