Yeah the Bama and South Carolina games in 2012 were terrible.

What about the other 80% percent of games in the stadium?
What about them? Which top 10-15 team in the country gets rowdy to play Furman and New Mexico State?
Until other schools start to schedule tough out of conference games when they have to play the schedule we play through the conference, I wouldn't expect LSU to bring in top 10 teams every weekend to entertain you.

It's the piped in music and TGBFTL's rendition of West Side Story's epic hits!
Posted on 9/23/14 at 3:57 pm to Lee Chatelain
TGBFTL can suck a big one.
Sick of watching/hearing them.

How is LSU any different than anyone else in this regard?
The only school I know of where a majority of fans will actually stick around when they suck it up is A&M...and that's because they're a cult.

The stadium is great for a big-game atmosphere when LSU is good, but otherwise it's not what it once was.
Tautologically sound argument.
I believe it is cultural entropy precipitated by really good TV technology exacerbated by the 'NFL-ization' usurpation of the college football experience.

It worked too, fwiw.

No shite. Are you saying those crowds weren't electric?

No, I think this thread is about crowds in general, not the exact year 2014. Who have we played this year where the crowd would have been awesome? And I have heard many people say that there were a couple spots in the Mississippi State game that were the loudest they have ever heard Tiger Stadium. So basically, we had a great crowd until we started getting our arse kicked.

oo many people stuck in the 70's. People are not going to sit at a boring football game for 4 hours with everything that is available to us nowadays.
At least when we got shitkicked in the early 90s we weren't on TV so Pitbull and CBS didn't make you have to stick around for 4 and a half hours to get shite kicked by Arkansas and denied the Car Quest Bowl.

I think only one person in this thread has actually answered Chicken's question...
How is what we are seeing here any different than any other college team outside of TAMU?
No anecdotal evidence...facts...cold hard facts

You have a point but somewhere in 2012 we lost something. Our new rich fans who leave at half or stay on their cell phones who really don't care about the tradition or anything else. It's sad week to be a tiger fan

No one is on a cell phone. They don't work.

It's embarrassing. I just wish people would give their tickets away if they planned on leaving at half time.

What do you expect? LSU is not an exciting football team to watch. They are boring, and they're even more boring when they're losing. Miles doesn't have a killer instinct mindset. That left after he got his Natl Title!

When people are happy to win instead of relieved not to lose then the atmosphere will start to come back.
The level of play the last 13 yrs has spoiled many.

Tiger fans are not leaving because they are spoiled. They are leaving because they are bored to death. Typically, LSU is winning, but instead of passing and making the game fun for the fans, Miles instead prefers to run up the gut on Sam Houston and ULM. Who in the world wants to see that shite? This has been going on now some 10 years
So 2 national title appearances and 2 SEC titles are not better than playing like Texas Tech, and so-flashy Oregon?
I often wonder who these fans are that think like this. Remember the fan who a few years actually said the words "The worst thing that can happen to LSU is to go undefeated and win a national championships."
Can't make this shite up.
Fair. Weather. Fans.

With that first title we were coordinated by the guy who runs a pretty flashy offense at Florida State. With regard to the second, we LITERALLY had the guy who coordinated Oregon's offense.

I think the solution is pretty simple to keeping people in the stands...SELL BEER IN THE STADIUM. They'd probably mess that up though by overpricing it way more than it needs to be. A reasonable price for beer in a stadium in my opinion is $5. I can see LSU selling it for $10-12, which is ridiculous.
Anyway, beer or not, I will always stay till the clock hits 0:00. Although that is not many people's preference.

Winning brings in big money and big money and winning bring in fair weather fans. LSU was better when access was easy (parking) and things were cheap now it's like the NFL. When things suck, big money fair weather fans haul arse.
That being said, the coaching staff consistently fails us and with all the money pumped in, we are constantly forced fricked with the inability of our coaches to perform to their expectations.
Saturday night was pathetic. These teams lack desire in normal games. It is evident when we play down to opponents.

I don't know what the problem is but certainly there are those that prefer the tailgating over the actual game. Im not going to get into the way we were playing which could certainly have you leave for the gates, but has all the corporate stuff priced the everyday fan and family from coming to the games? I certainly don't know the answer but I still have my season tickets even though Ive been in Montana since 2008 and my sister and bro in law sit in myn 4 seats and they stay till the end all the time, win, lose or draw. I don't think its just us , seems to be everywhere but definitely not the same as when I was at LSU. But belive me I don't have the answer. You can also have the stadium full to the brim and everyone sitting on their hands if they are not too excited.
