Friday night was awesome. We had a great time jumping from bar to bar. Saturday was a bit of a letdown. There really is no tailgating. Going to bars two days in a row got old and expensive.
The fans were great before the game but during and after the game got a little rough. A lot of fraternity d'bags talking sh!t with 10 people behind them.
The police were TERRIBLE. I had one take my water bottle and smell it. Give me a break. When I questioned why they were doing that they threatened me with disorderly conduct. The police presence needs a major overhaul.
The fans in the stadium were loud but never reached levels I have heard in tiger stadium. Props to their fans for staying the whole game.

It is dissapointing. However, I would not call it a negative experience. I really enjoyed the trip. Its simply not worth being in a place where the people who are there to protect you (cops) are the worst behaved people.

Well you asked. This was my first time to the Swamp and if I never go back it'll really be ok (wouldn't necessarily turn down another free trip but I won't ASK to tag along either).
We made our own fun ... we parked at 2222 University and had nice Gator fans around us. Glad we brought our own music ... I've never seen such quiet tailgating. We weren't hasseled by the cops for anything. Walk to the stadium was fine ... normal chomping/tigerbaiting. The stadium itself was quite, um, orange ... no one had prepared me and I guess I'd never paid attention on TV.
I realize that all schools have "those fans" who are ridiculous and immature but some of the ones in front of us were awful. And the walk back to the tailgating spot ... well let's see ... let me just say that I hope that Tiger fans are more gracious at winning than the fans we had to walk by.
I did admire the Gator fan (who was with an LSU group in front of us) who got puked on by an LSU drunk student. He looked at her and said "you LSU girls!" and took his shirt off. Never batted an eye.
I'll sum it up this way. We had a great time, made our own fun, saw an asswhooping and came home. I found the campus to be quaint ... but I left saying that I'll never go back.
I hope if you're ever in Tiger Stadium that you are well treated ... again every school has "those fans".
Hope ya'll win out ... but I'm not sure if I wanna play you guys again!

win or lose...
the experience was quite terrible.
to start: the cops showed up at our tailgate 7 times to check ids, told us to take down the beer pong table because we couldn't play drinking games, and to turn our music down.
walking to the game: some cop told us that if we didn't get off the street, she was going to take us straight to jail (we weren't drinking or anything, so i didn't get her point).
then at the game...i sat with a group of about 15 people and some got kicked out/arrested out for appearing to be "too" drunk, yelling bullshite, and accidently hitting a cop with a pom pom during an lsu chant (after we scored).
After the game:
What the hell was that helicopter flying over for and shining a spot light on everyone.
I felt like Big Brother was watching me constantly over there. It was really hard to just have a good time, get drunk, and enjoy yourself. I guess Gainesville is the exact opposite of BR.
ETA: some guy next to us got kicked out for standing on the bleacher...i guess this was why...idk what he did wrong

I bought a beer from a sidewalk hottie in front of a bar on University Ave. I took 2 steps "PFFT"... by the 4th step, a cop was taking it from my hand. TOTAL SET UP! Apparently if I had opened it 6 inches away on the grass (sidewalk is city property) everything would have been fine. While getting the ticket, I was asked for my email address. "Why do you need that?" Just for that comment, I was cuffed and told I was "uncooperative and going to jail". I was later let go, but MAN..How ridiculous!
I'm never going there again. I must have been a cop magnet. Earlier in the day, I was warned by campus police for drinking on campus....drinking on campus!? Are you kidding me!!??
The only thing good about the weekend was meeting Fred Weary in Gator City Grill (sharing the story w/ him along with some Ricky Williams/Ditka stories) and having the tiger band play for my tailgate site.
The stadium sucked. I sat at the very top row in a corner. The UF cheers were kind of freakishly cultish. I was sour even before I got there and the game sucked, so there was NO CHANCE I was going to enjoy myself.

I saw that ... what the heck?
And I do have to say that I thought is was louder than TS .. don't ban me. But from where we were it was terribly/awfully loud.

95% of the people there were between 21-25. I'm 22.
Most of the ladies played beer pong.
we had a good bit of people around us ...i guess this may have been why?

yea so were we. I wonder what is the theory behind that...i guess they are trying to prevent extreme public intoxication (the point of tailgating)

So its sounding like the general consensus is that Florida sucks, but they have a cool stadium...

Pregame was boring as hell, very quiet. Stadium was extremely loud. It was every bit as loud as Tiger Stadium and whoever doesn't admit that is just being a homer. The UF fans were fine before the game but as soon as the game started they turned into monsters. I'll definitely never be able to take my kids to Gainesville. I've never seen harassment in an opposing stadium like that.

I've been twice and my experience was better because LSU won both times. However, UF fans are far and away the worst I've ever encountered in the SEC. They try to be intimidating and mean instead of engaging in good-natured ribbing with opposing fans. I usually make at least one road trip a year and I have no plans to go back to Gainesville any time soon.

I absolutely agree with a couple of posts reference UF fans' stadium ediquette. I concluded that there were two types of Florida Fans. The more genteel fans who suffered through the 70s and 80s when they weren't that good were very friendly, beside some good-natured gatorbait/tigerbait stuff. The second class of gator fans, obviously the by-product of the 90s, are trashy, obnoxious, and had obviously lashed onto the only thing in their lives that came close to being a winner.
I sat in Section 327 where several UF fans (male, female, age range 20-50) acted like trailer trash, not watching the game so much as giving LSU fans a hard time.
As for other observations, LSU fans would raise holy hell the first time "Highway to Hell", "Jump Around", and "Welcome to the Jungle" got blasted every three minutes in Tiger Stadium. WTF?!
Gainesville/UF PD actually hovered around our tailgate on SW 13th at Norman Field, and we had several bottles of scotch, bourbon, etc out on the table around our TV but they by-passed us for the louder, younger LSU crowd hollering at the guys riding tandem on mopeds on 13th Avenue (which was hilarious). They also busted a group of Gator fans 20 yards on the other side, the main offense being not open container but underage drinking.
The game itself was
Worse than my trip to Georgia in 2004. If we don't develope a more aggressive defensive scheme it will be a long season.
I will return to The Swamp again, but with the glad knowledge that Tebow will be long gone by then.

No idea why the choppers were out. I've never seen that before. Something else must have been going on.

Friday night and before the game I had an absolute blast. LSU fans pwn3d Florida in tailgating. we were having more fun and made it obvious. the look on the fans faces as 20 of us ran onto the middle of the street stopping traffic chanting LSU was priceless! also, for the most part all Florida fans were nice before the game. afterwards though it was absolutely terrible especially bc I had to walk by myself and I had my balls sign which they didn't appreciate. Kentucky fans were still worse IMO. I'd go back to the swamp but just pray for an LSU victory.
