Damn we have a bunch of whiny bitch fans.
All these facility upgrades and high paid coaches have to get paid for with money and that money has to come from somewhere.

Can someone post a picture of what it looked like in previous years? The picture in the OP is how I remember the video board being used in years past (big Coke ad on the left and three small ads on the right).

See where the top stops sloping on each side? They added extra space on either side for more advertising (and left the digital portion in the middle as advertising).

The alternative, of course, is give back some $ to the advertisers in order to provide the fans with a scoreboard appropriate for a top tier stadium. But, then, they're just fans, and this is just LSU, so f*ck 'em!

You can see that each HALF of the "scoreboard" has more advertising space than scoreboard space, right? That doesn't seem a bit off to you? Is there some economic conundrum that exists at LSU but not other rival universities around the country?

So they spent a lot of money to expand the jumbotron to make up for lost revenue.
I thought it was make up for the loss of a screen.

companies have contracts for certain ad space. since they took down the south endzone board for expansion they had to place them on the other scoreboard to honor the contracts. once expansion is finished they'll redo the board.

First (as to your last point about what will happen when the SEZ is done) don't count on it. Second, the cost of negotiating a rebate to the advertisers for loss of ad space would be lost in the rounding of the overall cost of the SEZ expansion project.
