Ex NFL player and racist being sued

Over the Nolan Wells drowning.
Three friends of Nolan Wells, a Black college student who went missing from a Mississippi island and was later found dead, are suing NFL Hall of Famer Terrell Owens for defamation.
Lawyers for the friends said they intend to file several more defamation claims this week against content creators and have previously indicated their intent to sue the Rev. Al Sharpton and “The View” co-host Sunny Hostin for comments they made while discussing Wells' death.
The lawsuit alleges Owens defamed the three friends after posting on X: “ARREST THEM IMMEDIATELY!!” Owens' post also linked to an Instagram video, which theorized the three friends killed Wells and tampered with his phone, according to the lawsuit.

Being objective here, is it really defamation to re-tweet a video by someone else? And express an opinion? I'm all for the boys being paid but I don't think this is it.

Freedom of speech against an individual doesn’t mean freedom from repercussions from that speech.

Why is it so prevalent that people keep saying "1st amendment!" when talking about individuals? The first amendment is only for speech against GOVERNMENT.
You can't call an Hells Angels biker an a-hole and then yell "first amendment! First amendment!" When he and his friends commences to beat you within an inch of your life.
