Jayden Daniels is born and raised in California.

6”3 185-190 pounds with pure athleticism.

32 TDS/ 13 ints for his 3 years as starter. People say he regressed a little, but ASU lost a lot of big time players like top weapon Brandon Aiyuk.

He can run with the best of them, has had multiple TD runs over 40 yards.

Good arm, and good pocket awareness. Will throw on the run a lot.

Weakness that I see is inconsistency throwing the ball. ASU offense is not built to throw it 35+ times a game. So he as QB is not built for that. He struggled in games where they got behind early.

Overall very solid though IMO.

College comparison: Desmond Ridder
NFL comparison: Tyler Huntley

Yeah im excited to see him play with our talent. He's definitely a solid grab.

Not to mention, ASU only played 4 games in 2020 during the covid season too.

Yes.

That seems to be the outlier in his career though. I believe he pressed due to the lack of weapons around him.

His first 2 years he only threw 3 ints.
With more weapons around him I feel that 10 int number will drop.

Maybe I missed it, but most of his throws were short, underneath stuff that was used to set up the deep ball. I didn't see him make a lot of those mid-range throws over the middle or outside the numbers. He threw well underneath and had a good deep ball over the top, but not much in between, unless I missed something.

You need those mid-range throws over the middle to keep the chains moving on third and long, and you need to throw the out to stop the clock in end of the half/game situations.

I'm not saying he can't make those throws, I'm just saying I don't see that from him in the video I've watched. Is that an issue with arm strength?

His point is still valid. Max Johnson has 35 TD passes in a season, +2 games, and most on this board would say he sucks.

Daniels has 32 TD passes in 2 full seasons + 4 games. I get that Daniels brings the wheels, but I'm not sure if that's an element this team desperately needed considering the strength of the WR group. I feel like anything he gets you on the ground is at the expense of maximizing the talents of the wideouts.

It’s a fair point. But we must take into account that Daniels was in a system where it did not require him to throw the ball as much as Johnson.

LSU had no run game, therefore Max had more opportunities. Max Johnson threw the ball 378 times in his first full season. The most Daniels ever threw in a season is 338. Hence the reason Max had more TDs.

Also Johnson had way better weapons.

Tyler Hundley isn’t a great comp he has far far far better arm talent. With the Wr depth at lsu I expect him to be a first round pick if he stays 2 years. Fast and elite arm talent. Comp- Lamar Jackson

I just dont get why people are so anti-Daniels here. If he doesnt pan out, so what? He's depth. If all he did was add variety in the playbook with a wildcat look then great. I seem him almost like Emory Jones for Florida, just better.

Exactly. At minimum, he’s going to make Myles Brennan take his game to another level. If Daniel’s does win the job, that means he’s completing all of the necessary throws to be a starter in the SEC because we know Brennan can spin it. His legs make for a dangerous weapon that Brennan does not have.

I’m fine with either Daniels or Brennan. Both different skill sets, I trust Kelly and Denbrock to have a wide open competition and let the best man win.

He better be in the mold of Manziel or he will get destroyed at 185 in the SEC

Max really does nothing to compliment Myles' game. Youre not running a dual QB system throwing Max in every once and a while. We all thought Max was going to be a bit more mobile but he's just not.

Daniels ran a 4.5 in the 40 which makes him the fastest QB on our roster, possibly the fastest in the SEC.

Typical Kelly. He will ostracize your younger qbs for a safer QB that doesn't turn the ball over.

He prefers qbs that make you solid, not great.
