Shouldn’t you put together at least a decent offensive line before you spend the top draft pick and money on a QB? Seems logical to me.

doubt all the damage happened in that one play...injuries are usually cumulative and he has been getting wrecked all season
Ummm no. Very likely this injury happened in an instant.

He’s been hit something crazy like 90 times this season. Yahoo has an article on it calling the Bengals a failure. He’s also been sacked the second most of any QB. When you throw it 40-60 times per game, and your OL gives up that many hits....he’s going to get destroyed.

This is between the left guard and tackle. The tackle is losing the battle once he bounces inside, the idea is to create a pocket by keeping his guy squared up or bouncing him to the outside.
I've driven guys a mile past the qb on the outsides but you never give up the inside. The guard should have been watching for a bounce to his gap.
COVER YOUR GAPS, the damage was done when the pocket was penetrated, even if only slightly, you expect your line to have that closed.
Edit: To answer directly, LT did not stay in front of his block. LG did not cover his gap. Both failed on the play and resulted in a massive blow to the franchise and you bet they know it and the entire staff knows it.
