We're lucky that UGA sucked in the beginning of 2007 so that we didn't have to play them in the SEC Championship Game. That would have been UGLY.

Again Memphis, LSU was the most deserving team to be there. No other coach in all of college football fielded a team that was more deserving. Regardless of the record, this remains true.

And on the topic of luck - every national champion owes a great credit to luck. Perhaps LSU was unlucky to have lost any games that season at all.

So you aren't saying that LSU was extremely lucky to even have the chance to play in that game?

Refresh your memory of how we got into the game in 2003. Waiting for 2 upsets on the last day of the season sonnyboy. Sounds familiar.

I refuse to believe that you are an LSU fan. Refrain from saying "we" from now on.

I think you're remembering it wrong.

I think the deal is that people have a bigger problem with the difference in Miles' playcalling/willingness to take chances, and has instead resorted to very conservative play. He sure as hell won the NC in 2007, and I thought he was the $hit for his ballsy play-call, but for the past 2 seasons there has been no evidence of that same person on our sidelines.

we weren't waiting on any upset the likes of pitt vs WV.

and in 2003 it was set, we didn't have to sit and pray the polls would bump LSU up like 5 spots

The arse whop at Oregon cobined with giving up 55 to Stanford (most EVER by USC). I would say the wheels are at least shakey at best!

Sure, he has been more conservative. But our 2 losses this year did not have to do with conservative play calling - and this discussion is coming up after a victory. I love seeing Les roll the dice, but this season he just doesn't seem to have the faith in the personnel to do so. The calls for him to be fired are simply ridiculous. What kind of fan base has this discussion when we are in a position to win 11 games?

Florida/LSU 2007. Auburn game last season. You are just plain wrong.

Did you happen to watch the game against UF?

That had everything to do with execution. If you can't move the ball, it makes no sense to turn the ball over on downs.

I totally agree with this, however, by conservative play, I also mean no utilizing what's been proven to work for us (ie: seeing more of Shepard, let JJ throw downfield because it worked for him in the Tulane game, etc.) And yes, we did win last night, but it shouldn't have even been that close because they consistently disregarded running a play again even if it gained great yardage.

PS: Geaux Saints

Okay badass. I guess I'm not an LSU fan. I must have been crazy going to those games during the Hallman and DiNardo days. You must be blind if you can't see that we had become stagnant after the VA Tech game in 2007 and lost to two very mediocre teams.

Before this season, the majority of the RANTards wanted Benson to fire Sean Payton and start over with a new offensive scheme--too bad Benson didn't listen to our enlighted RANTards.

Last night is a bit of an exception, because Jefferson was out. For all we know he could have been preparing for the possibility that Lee would have to start against Ole Miss (if Jefferson is not ready - Les hasn't been forthcoming with injury details) and felt confident that we would be able to win either way. It was very ugly last night - I agree, but I'm glad we got to try different things with Lee, in case he has to start next week.

Difference here is that Peyton is a VERY smart coach, and he just needed to get the players/personnel that he wanted for his scheme. He hasn't changed at all, just his personnel. AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, the Saints are healthy this year.
