It’s a two way street. Today is the equivalent of starting a 6 inning game with a 2-0 lead. The next game we play will likely be against a better offensive team needing 27 outs with no run advantage. But I totally get the win this game worry about the next one later mentality. I don’t have a problem either way, as I think there are multiple good options.

Go take your midol so you can watch the tigers eat today and they’ll cross the coastal bridge when they get there.

Love it and hate it at the same time. Let’s go win this AM and get some rest for tomorrow!

Yep. Get to 2-0 and make someone beat you twice.

Id imagine if he is effective, he isnt coming out

I just remember back to '22 Jay said he would approach it differently. I'm not sure losing your best guy out of the bullpen is the best move. But maybe his trust in Shores/Cooper/Noot/Cowan is such that he believes he can make that decision.

I do too. Especially this particular game. I thought we should have started Evans last night if they had resumed. But knowing that the loser had to play again tonight, frick “saving” anybody, frick Game 3. Game 3 does not exist. There is only 1 game, and it starts in a couple minutes. Throw Evans for as long as he’s effective. If he has to go 6, he has to go 6.

And I’m not sure how big of a lead we’d have to get to hand the ball over to someone else if he’s still dealing. We saw what happened in the top of the 1st yesterday. I don’t know that 7 runs would be enough.

But this is the right move. Hand the pill to Evans and let him eat for as long as he can.

As much as starting Evans is more about him just being our third best pitcher, it probably helps that he works so quickly against the clock. Esp with this being an early game. Make UCLA wake up and play fast.
JJ said he worked so well against UALR because he came in after Cowan who was milking the pitch clock, and they had to adjust.
