ESPN's take on who's better Chubb or Fournette

"Texas A&M Howard Matthews is a hard hitter and a good inside-the-box safety. What Fournette did to him just ain’t right."

Enjoyed this observation, especially the last line.
"If both backs were eligible to be drafted by the NFL today and you were a general manager, which back are you picking first? Give me Fournette, who is built like a linebacker but runs like a receiver. Good luck stopping that next season, SEC."

Yes, especially after Ga's starting running-back got hurt from too many carries. Its a knife that cuts both ways.

Don't remember him getting 5 against A&M

They're both outstanding....who cares
But UGA does have a tendency to over use their guys and that should be a concern.

Peel back the hype that surrounded Fournette and you will find an emerging star, one that had to go through a stronger SEC West (no matter what the bowl record might say).
Are his numbers as gaudy as Chubb’s? No. Chubb didn’t have to face Alabama. Or Mississippi State. Or Ole Miss. Those three were the SEC’s best teams, ranked 1, 7 and 9, respectively, by the College Football Playoff selection committee at regular-season’s end. So that certainly plays a role in the statistical discrepancy between the two in SEC play.
Chubb also has the benefit of having a competent QB in Mason (2100 yards, 67% completion, 21 TD, 4 int) to open up the run.
Everyone knows LSU is going to run because of Jennings' reliable godlike stats (1611 yards, 49% completion, 11 TD, 7 int).

If Fournette had this, he'd have defenders chasing him all over the field, not in a box!

Les does not burn their RB like other schools. He keeps them fresh and they are not injured and perform well in NFL. He protects them. For him it is more about kids career than selfish win. It is one good quality of him

quote:Of coarse, and it's ridiculous. You have a talent like Fournette, you give him the ball. I'm not saying to ride him into the ground with 35-40 carries a game. 25 carries a game isn't going to affect his future. 5 and 11 carries for him is pathetic. Yet, it's "blah blah, Les is worried about his NFL career, rabble rabble.

Eta: If he's so worried about the future and health of his backs, he should really try not making them try to run through lines with 8-9 guys in the box play after play.

And who would that be????? Gurley??? He hardly had ANY carries. He got hurt in his 1st game back... Do some homework...

He had 5 carries against arkansas
11 carries against Notre dame
He's not going to win any awards with such low carry numbers
