LSU has already said thats not going to happen.
That was before this contract. I guarantee you it will happen at some point.

I guess this prevents the SEC from forming their own network like the Big Ten has
SEC does not need it's own network now. This deal will get the SEC more exposure than the SEC network could ever dream of.

I really think the Thursday games will be 2nd tier games. ESPN will want to save the big match ups for Saturday.
Not that this will prevent us from being on Thursday, I just don't expect LSU versus Florida/GA/Auburn/Alabama anytime soon on Thursday night.

i will agree with that but people saying it will never happen is absurd

Oh I agree as well. ESPN is not giving us 2.25B only to have strings attached limiting their choices.

ESPN hates LSU though.
Finally. A voice of reason.

Not really .... there is no way a school dismisses classes for just a game unless there is some other factor (like Rita) that moved the game to a week day.
If the school does not dismiss classes, what happens to parking?
How can the school clean up the campus in time for Friday classes?
Don't know about other schools, I sure hope Thursday games never happens at LSU

It's going to happen eventually.

Very limited tailgating, or off site tailgating and busing.

How did we clean up campus for class on Tuesday in 2005 after UT?

Pretty sure no of us with season tickets want it and it will suck. It might very well happen though and LSU probably won't have a choice.

so i guess LSU would be the only SEC school having this problem. there will be a thursday night game in tiger stadium one year

They actually did not have enough time to clean it adequately .... I am a student who live on campus and I was a student then as well ...

I went to the season opener last year in Starkville, which was a Thursday night game. Hopefully, that's the first and last time I'll see LSU on Thursdays.

Which was my point.

There's not going to be a Thursday night, Monday night or even a Friday game at LSU unless...it is the first game of the year with days & days to recover or unless it is on a holiday weekend like T'giving which gives the Tigers extra rest for the SECCG. We will never have a Thursday night game at home after playing a previous Saturday game. Ain't gonna happen. This isn't Temple or some ACC school with their thunder sticks.

Question for the board: Let's say, as a previous poster said, that ESPN keeps the big time games on Saturday night and the lesser tier games on Thursday. So next year, would you rather see LSU vs. Vanderbilt at 11 am in the heat on 9/12 or at 7 pm on Thusday, 9/10?
I would have to say Thursday night.
I would have to say Thursday night.

Saturday. We aren't going to play a game on less than 5 days rest. It will only happen if it is the first game of the year or following an open date. There are too many people that travel 4+ hours to the game that would have to work the next day, not to mention the stress on the campus.

More than likely it will. I wouldn't be fond of it but I think I (like most of us) would eventually get past it.

Where is it written that LSU would never have a game on Thursday at home? If they are chosen, it will happen. There is no rule that excludes only LSU from Thursday home games.

Jesus, y'all are stupid. Hasn't Auburn played on Thursday night before? They aren't Temple either. shite, 15 years ago, we'd have begged for ESPN to come to Baton Rouge on a Thursday to nationally televise a game. A Thursday night game in Baton Rouge will almost definitely happen in this 15 year period. And the world will continue to revolve around the sun.
