Yep, and it's the same way all over the country. So, for the next couple of weeks, when people hear "LSU", they won't think about the best team in the country, they'll think about drug-related suspensions. Opposing coaches will use it in recruiting while talking to worried parents of prospects, media types will use it to discredit our accomplishments, and people who don't know or care much about LSU will have something negative to associate with it instead of just the positive of a great season. Just another way these guys have hurt the team and the school.
This is exactly why Les should (and did) put the hammer down on this. Shows the parents of new recruits that the program has no tolerance for this stuff. I like the reaction- not too excessive but quick and firm. Many coaches would look the other way

Anything new since yesterday afternoon?
Despite significant clever attempts by callers to ask about the depth chart, Ford's playing time, etc., Miles was successfully evasive in answering, confirming or denying any questions about the situation.
He seemed to be in as positive and upbeat mood as possible, considering the circumstances. I inferred that means a single game suspension for the involved players. While he didn't hem and haw around, "Pending investigation", etc., he mentioned it's an internal, administrative process and he's unwilling to discuss details.
It has made all of the national reporting, though, 100% with the 2 names (Mathieu and Ware), with most reporting now including Simon. None of this has been confirmed by LSU, nor is there any hard evidence of the actual infractions - it all remains at the allegation and rumor stage.

Why is this stickied if it's unconfirmed?

While I don't buy into any of the conspiracy theories (chess moves by Les), I do think Les' lack of specifics and responding to the media, means that he's gonna use this to his advantage. I wonder if, and when, he has to say something specific about the suspensions before the Auburn game...or can he keep the Auburn coaches guessing before (and perhaps even during the game). Are there any disclosure rules here?

In fact, how far could Les go with this...I mean, if we got a comfortable win against Auburn, could the "investigation" / "internal disciplinary" stuff drag on to the Bama game. Would be interesting for Saban to not know when those guys will enter the game

It's called Stupid!! And as Bill Engvall says, "You can't fix stupid". I find it highly unlikely that anyone forced them to do what they did! You have to be held accountable for your actions! Unfortunately, in this case the whole team will be held accountable! Why do I call it stupid? Because everyone, these included, had the Shady's incident to see what can happen when you make an error in judgement. When you know your actions will bring bad on you and your team and you do it anyway-STUPID!!! And if this causes them to be suspended for the remainder of the year, so be it. I just hate it for their teammates!
Quoting Bill Engvall is the epitome of stupid. I bet you have a very thick southern accent. Probably fat, too.

This was a well-intentioned, but ultimately futile, attempt by the admins to confine (or at least contain it somewhat) the discussion to just this thread. The fact that nearly every single thread through several pages are on this topic is a testament to this futility.
You don't think this is worth a sticky? Then what would ever deserve a sticky?

It is not a rumor that ESPN is reporting this. The facts have not been confirmed, but this is newsworthy and will be discussed on here in every thread until the Scoreboard opens on Saturday.
This genie cannot be recorked.

thats because its a rumor until the "DISCIPLINARY PROCESS" plays out....which is why we should use the silence to drag this on. Les may be brilliant. Lemonade out of lemons

Posted on 10/20/11 at 10:18 am to rchamp
does anyone know when/ if you have to report the status or result of an INTERDISCIPLINARY PROCESS while it "plays itself out"
?
?
Posted on 10/20/11 at 10:22 am to rchamp
no one on this board does and if they say they do they are lying
Posted on 10/20/11 at 10:29 am to NorthshoreTiger76
Then I say let's turn this whole thing to our advantage- whether its rumor, fact, or a little of both...

Posted on 10/20/11 at 10:31 am to NorthshoreTiger76
there were some background references to this thinking on WWL last night, but after the elusive responses from Les, I'm thinking more and more that this silence/ lack of confirmation is a deliberate thing (perhaps brilliant) way to turn a bad turn of events into a real advantage
