That is true in some cases because usually there is little hard evidence to support the sky is falling mentality. In this case, the evidence is overwhelming. Let's say LSU manages to win 2-3 conference games where LSU is the underdog or it's a toss-up. We still then have to hope that LSU wins all of the games its supposed to win which is a tall order no matter the coach or players.

NC State, Marquette and Houston will all likely make a post-season tournament

This would be a double edged sword, as if true, it may come at the expense of LSU. You cant lose to bubble teams if youre going to be a bubble team

Its laughable to think, but we will have to go 14-4 or 13-5 at worst in conference to make the tournament.

Nah.

I think we can go 12-6 if we beat Kentucky once and also beat OU.

All you say might be true, but I have watched enough basketball to know that how a team with new parts starts a season is not always how they finish a season. We will see.

This has been the story under Jones. Get fans excited, they actually start showing up for games, then LSU doesn't look like they even belong on the same court as the other team.

This team has a long ways to go, especially defensively, however lots of basketball to be played to have a very successful season. You look back at the 2004-05 team that had Brandon Bass, Glen Davis, Darrel Mitchell, Antonio Hudson, etc and that team started the season 6-5 with losses to:
-West Virginia by 15 (at home)
-Southern Miss by 4 in OT (neutral site)
-Houston by 9(on the road)
-Utah by 14 (on the road)
-Alabama by 15 (on the road)

That team went on to go 12-4 in a good SEC and finish with a 6 seed in the NCAA tourney.

Point is, this team needs to figure out roles with Hornsbty and Victor getting into the rotation and establish an identity. They clearly don't have that right now but I have much faith and confidence that nobody will want to play us come February and March, similar to that 04-05 team.

If we're even close to being a "bubble" team, I think having Simmons gets us in. He's a draw.
